Robert Pattinson On Woody Allen’s Radar, Plus Cosmopolis B-Roll And New Stills

OK, so this is pretty wild.

Woody Allen has gone on record saying there’s a possibility that he and Robert Pattinson could work together.

Allen made the remarks last night at the NYC premiere of his latest film To Rome With Love which stars Penelope Cruz and Alec ‘Bruiser’ Baldwin.

Asked for a comment about Pattinson by Hollywood Life, the world renowned film and theater director of over 40 films – many of them Academy Award winners such as Annie Hall, Hannah and Her Sisters and Midnight in Parissaid,

“I wouldn’t hesitate. I think he’s a wonderful actor,” said 76-year-old Allen. “I’ve seen him act and interviewed on television. I find him charming and amusing and if I ever had anything he was right for I wouldn’t hesitate for a second.”

It’s not (as yet) known what Pattinson’s thoughts about Allen’s remarks are, but it’s likely the Brit would be flattered – and perhaps even interested.

Currently riding a wave of critical praise for his performance in David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis, Pattinson’s schedule is pretty full right now.

Next on the 26-year-old’s slate is Mission: Blacklist, a “psychological thriller” based on real-life story of Eric Maddox, ex-U.S Army interrogator and intelligence expert who headed the tracking and capture of the now dead Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein in 2003.

After that, he’ll likely be heading down under to start work on David Michod’s The Rover which also stars Aussie actor Guy Pearce. Then of course there’s Map to the Stars, Pattinson’s next collaboration with Cronenberg, and an – as yet – unspecified role in a film about late 60s/70s roots rockers The Band.

While the idea of Pattinson and Allen working together is undoubtedly an intriguing one, even if it doesn’t happen, the fact that a legendary auteur responsible for so much seminal cinema is eager to work with Pattinson – speaks volumes.

In other Pattinson news, a B-Roll of the Brit actor and Cronenberg on the Cosmopolis set on location in Toronto last year has gone online – along with a bunch of new stills.

The B-Roll shows excerpts from the opening scene in Cosmopolis where Eric Packer (Robert Pattinson) hears for the first time from his head of security “Torval” (played by Kevin Durand), that there’s a “credible threat” to his life.

Based on U.S author Don DeLlillo’s novel of the same name, Cosmopolis follows a disillusioned, 28 year old billionaire wunderkind (Packer) – as he traverses an imploding Manhattan in 24 hours, pursued by an anonymous assassin and a pie-wielding provocateur while meeting various colorful characters.

After premiering at the recent Cannes Film Festival, where it was selected to compete for the Palme d’Or, the film received mixed to glowing reviews, and has since opened in various European countries including France and the UK, and also Canada.

It will make its way to the U.S on August 17 opening first in New York and Los Angeles before expanding into the rest of the States.
