‘The Fosters’ Season 4 Renewal Made Official: Network Set To Bring Show Back For More

The Fosters has been renewed for Season 4, and fans are thrilled to know that more of the show is on the way. The ABC Family show is currently on a mid-season hiatus, but the action is set to pick up again soon. What is known about what is coming up on the show?

During the Season 3 mid-season finale, there were plenty of developments between Callie and Brandon. In addition, Stef and Lena had been struggling with their marriage a great deal. There was turmoil about whether Callie’s adoption might go through or fall apart, and Fosters fans are anxiously waiting for new episodes to begin again.

According to Deadline, the second half of The Fosters Season 3 begins on January 25. The network, ABC Family, is in the midst of being renamed Freeform, and that change will be in place by the time the show returns. Deadline also details the news about the network renewing the show for Season 4.

Network executive vice president Karey Burke shares that there are “so many more stories to tell about The Fosters family – these incredible characters have come into our lives and touched so many – from Stef and Lena’s wedding, to the adoptions of Callie and Jude.” The show has been a top performer for ABC Family, so hearing it was renewed already for a fourth season likely doesn’t come as a huge surprise.

It didn’t take long for fans to react to the renewal news. The announcement on the show’s Facebook page garnered more than 10,000 “likes” in just an hour and hundreds have commented. While fans are glad to hear the show will be coming back for another season after the current one wraps, there is a lot of buzz about one controversial change.

As Variety reported a while back, Jake T. Austin has been replaced in the role of Jesus Adams Foster. Noah Centineo has stepped into the role and will be playing Jesus when the show returns, and fans got their first glimpse of him in the Season 3 mid-season finale. Many viewers will recognize Centineo from his time on Disney shows Austin & Ally and How to Build a Better Boy.

While fans are upset to know that Austin has been let go, some have commented that his off-screen issues may have played a part in the casting change. J-14 details that there have been a couple of incidents since joining the show that may have impacted the network’s decision to have him continue on the cast. Austin confirmed his departure from The Fosters back in March.

Jake T. Austin’s fans are being quite outspoken on the show’s Facebook page amid the renewal news, but many other Fosters fans are simply embracing the announcement. People definitely have their opinions on the Callie and Brandon situation, and there is surely more to come on that front when Season 3 picks back up again.

It will not take long for Fosters spoilers to emerge heading into the back half of Season 3, and fans are already speculating about where things could head in Season 4. Things kick back into gear again on January 25, and the showrunners will surely share some teasers in the months ahead about plans for Season 4.

Will viewers come to embrace Noah Centineo in the role of Jesus? Will Lena and Stef’s relationship be stronger now for the obstacles they had to overcome in the first part of the season? What comes next for Jude and Mariana as the rest of Season 3 plays out? Fans cannot wait to see what more lies ahead in the back half of Season 3 and are thrilled with the news that The Fosters is coming back with even more in Season 4.
