Jon Gosselin and his ex-wife Kate didn’t treat each other too nicely after their divorce three years ago. Today, Gosselin issued an apology saying that he was sorry for treating her the way that he did.

Gosselin, who dated several women after their breakup, told People Magazine:

“I am sorry, because I did stuff I wouldn’t want done to me.”

Gosselin also admits that he made the divorce harder than it had to be by being passive-aggressive and not communicating.

Gosselin said:

“I was passive-aggressive. Then I’d get mad, but I was the one who wasn’t communicating.”

On top of the pressure of raising 8 kids, Gosselin said that the added fame also put stress on the marriage and himself. Jon said that he didn’t know how to handle his fame but now feels like he has a better grasp of his place in life.

Gosselin said:

“I used to talk to Rabbi Shmuley Boteach a lot when I lived in New York. He said, ‘There are two things you can do with your fame – sell out or take it and use it for good.’ I didn’t grasp that at the time.”

Jon said that he may find himself back in the spotlight someday but for the time being he’s happy with his new job as the director of sales and promotions for Gameface Int. He’s also looking forward to moving past the divorce and helping Kate raise their kids.

Jon said:

“I’ll call [Kate] up and say, ‘Mady’s sick. What do I do?’ And she’ll tell me… She’s a great Mom. We just have different parenting styles.”
