Chelsea Peretti And Jordan Peele Are Engaged, Celebrity Comedy Couple To Tie The Knot

Chelsea Peretti and Jordan Peele are engaged!

As MSN reports, the 37-year-old Peretti, who’s starred alongside Andy Samberg on Brooklyn Nine Nine since 2013, tweeted on Saturday that her now-fiancé Jordan Peele popped the question on Friday night.

It’s not clear what Chelsea meant by “family talent show” — could be a Peretti family Thanksgiving tradition. For his part, 36-year-old Peele, formerly of Key & Peele and now with a recurring guest role on CBS’ Life In Pieces, also mentioned his and Peretti’s engagement in a tweet — sort of.

Just a few minutes later, word the Peretti and Peele’s engagement made it as far as Wikipedia — something which didn’t escape Peele’s notice.

Chelsea Peretti and Jordan Peele have been a thing since 2013, according to Dish Nation, and they have Chelsea’s Brooklyn Nine Nine costar Andy Samberg to thank. Peretti and Samberg have been friends since elementary school, and Chelsea even had a schoolgirl crush on Andy back in the day, according to a source.

“Andy and Chelsea go way, way back so not only are they really close, but he’s always interested in who she’s dating. As soon as Andy learned that Jordan expressed an interest in Chelsea he was on it. Andy knew this was a great match so he made it very simple – he told Chelsea that Jordan was a good man and she needed to give him a shot. Before you knew it, the two of them were hooking up and now they’re inseparable.”

The couple initially kept her relationship with Jordan quiet, but they revealed it publicly during the 2014 Comedy Central Creative Arts Emmy party.

“Jordan and Chelsea wanted to make sure they were more than just a ‘fling thing.’ Well, it’s serious and now they don’t care who knows. Their friends are now bugging the comedy duo to get married and start having funny babies. The big question will be who will be the best man – Jordan’s comedy partner Keegan-Michael Key or Andy Samberg.”

Chelsea Peretti was born and raised in Oakland, California, and got her start in comedy as a writer, writing for publications like The Village Voice, Huffington Post, and Playgirl, among others. After moving to L.A., she got bit parts on TV shows like Tosh.0, Louie, and The Sarah Silverman Program. The up-and-coming comedian was named one of Variety‘s “Ten Comics to Watch” in 2010.

The Italian-American actress’ career took off when her old friend Samberg got her a job on Brooklyn Nine Nine, where she stars as Gina Linetti.

Peretti’s now-fiancé Jordan Peele hails from New York, but then made his way to Chicago to make a name for himself in stand-up comedy. He appeared in Chicago improv troupes Boom Chicago and The Second City before getting started in TV. In 2003, Peele joined the cast of MADtv, where he met the man who would later become his comedy partner, Keegan-Michael Key. The two would go on to create the comedy duo Key & Peele, and star in a Comedy Central show named for them.

Key & Peele began in 2013 and ran for five seasons. The sketch comedy show won critical acclaim and multiple awards, including a Peabody Award, The NAACP Image Award, and multiple Primetime Emmy awards. The show, however, failed to find a wide audience, and was cancelled in 2015.

As of this writing, Chelsea Peretti and Jordan Peele have not announced a wedding date.
