If you happen to be a fan of Kylie Jenner and are confused about her relationship status, you are apparently in good company. Just before Thanksgiving, Kylie Jenner and her 26-year-old boyfriend, Tyga, were the subject of renewed media scrutiny after a rumor circulated that the two had broken up. Rumors about the Kardashian-Jenner family, controversially dubbed the “America’s First Family” by Cosmopolitan, pop up and get busted quickly, but the speed of this rumor’s demise might confuse even the most jaded Kardashian fan. Did Kylie and Tyga ever break up?

The answer isn’t clear-cut, but it looks like Kylie Jenner and Tyga split, albeit briefly. Fans first noticed that the infamous couple might be in trouble when Kylie Jenner not only skipped Tyga’s birthday festivities, but didn’t acknowledge his birthday on any of her social media accounts. Neither did any of her famous sisters. That’s a major departure from the Kardashian-Jenner family’s standard operating procedure, which usually sees a flurry of posts and well wishes for every member’s milestones.

Notorious gossip busting site, Gossip Cop, confirmed that Kylie Jenner and Tyga split on his birthday, though they couldn’t confirm a particular reason for the break-up. Then, Kylie Jenner confused everyone with a well-timed SnapChat post.

The image, which clearly shows Kylie Jenner and Tyga snuggling next to each other, seemed designed to suggest to fans that Kylie and Tyga never broke up in the first place. Kylie doubled down on the impression that weekend. After the American Music Awards on November 22, TMZ photographers caught up with Kylie Jenner and Tyga. The photographer asked Kylie if she and Tyga were “getting married,” and without hesitation the 18-year-old reality star said, “yes.”

To be fair, TMZ acknowledged that Kylie was probably joking, but this isn’t the first time rumors of impending marriage have sprung up around the couple. As previously reported by Inquisitr, Tyga raised eyebrows in October when he apparently referred to Kylie as his “fiancée” in a SnapChat video. Neither Tyga nor Kylie Jenner have ever acknowledged the video. So far, Jenner hasn’t displayed a diamond engagement ring, and it seems odd that a man who gave her a Ferarri for her 18th birthday wouldn’t give her a flashy ring for their engagement.

Further confirmation that Kylie Jenner and Tyga patched things up in record time can be seen in the Kardashian-Jenner family Thanksgiving photo. The photograph, which Kim Kardashian West posted, proved that Tyga joined the Kardashian-Jenner family for Thanksgiving dinner. Also among the Kardashian-Jenner Thanksgiving guests were Caitlyn Jenner and Scott Disick. Caitlyn Jenner’s relationship with the Kardashian-Jenner family was somewhat strained by comments she made after revealing her gender transition, but she’s been involved in most family functions this year, including sending a video to ex-wife Kris Jenner’s 60th birthday celebration. Meanwhile, Scott Disick recently resumed appearances at Kardashian-Jenner family functions after a stint in rehab for alcohol and drug addiction.

The report of Kylie Jenner and Tyga’s break up wasn’t a rumor, but it also probably wasn’t true by the time reports were published. If the rumored break up was true, then the rumors that Tyga moved out of Jenner’s home must be true as well, right? Well, not exactly.

According to a recent Gossip Cop article, the widespread rumors that their lightning-speed break up led to Tyga moving out of Kylie Jenner’s home weren’t true, because they never lived together. An unidentified source reportedly told Gossip Cop that Kylie Jenner and Tyga, “…don’t live together. They never have. So this is a joke.”

The moral of the story is take everything you hear about the Kardashian-Jenner family with a heaping helping of salt. Even when it comes from the Kardashian-Jenner family.
