Tracy Morgan On Coma: God Said ‘Your Room Ain’t Ready’

Tracy Morgan talked about his encounter with the divine in an interview with Complex magazine, saying that God still has plans for the him. It has been over a year since the car accident which killed Morgan’s close friend, and left the comedian in a coma. Despite all he has been through, Tracy Morgan reportedly stated that he still feels like something is missing, and that he’s ready to get back to work.

Tracy Morgan started off the quick ten-minute interview by saying that he might be back to the comedy business, but he’ll never be completely the same.

“Well, you’re never going to be normal after you go through something like that. You don’t die for a few weeks and then come back to normal, trust me. Something’s going to be missing, something’s going to be gained—you just got to live your life after that. But after surviving something like that, I’m probably never going to feel normal.”

He added that God said there’s still work for him to do.

“I went to the other side. This is not something I’m making up. Do you know what God said to me? He said, ‘Your room ain’t ready. I still got something for you to do.’ And here I am, doing an interview with you.”

Likewise, Tracy Morgan has a few appearances coming up. He’s set to be the new spokesman for Footlocker.

Morgan will also go on a solo tour in 2016, and just finished shooting for the movie Fist Fight with Ice Cube and Charlie Day.

The comedian wouldn’t give away many details on the new film, but said it is about two high school teachers.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Tracy Morgan proved that could still make an audience laugh by hosting SNL in October. The comedian brought back many fan-favorite characters from his time on the show, including Brian Fellow of Brian Fellow’s Safari Planet and Astronaut Jones, but Morgan explained it was a special experience for reasons other than comedy.

“There was so much goodwill and I felt that energy, like, ‘Yo, we happy you alive!’ It wasn’t like they were looking for laughter, no. ‘We just happy you alive and you’re here walking.'”

The audience got another special treat when the cast of 30 Rock joined Morgan on stage to show their love and support. Tina Fey added a moment of heartfelt sincerity into the laughter, saying that they were happy he’s all right, and ready to make people laugh again.

In Morgan’s first interview after the car accident, he promised Matt Lauer on the Today Show that he would get back to making people laugh again.

The crash happened on June 7, 2014. A tractor trailer belonging to Wal-Mart smashed into the back of comedian’s limo bus on the New Jersey Turnpike near Cranbury. In addition to brain trauma, Morgan suffered a broken leg and ribs. Fellow comedian James, Jimmy Mack, McNair died in the accident, and Ardie Fuqua and Jeffrey Millea were also seriously injured.

When discussing his first experiences after the waking up from his coma, Tracy Morgan said that he scoured the Internet for footage of the accident. He explained that he needed to see what happened, but once he found a video of McNair’s funeral, he “lost it for about a week.”

“I had to know what happened to my friend, and I had to pay my respects, and that was my way.”

The SNL veteran appears to be passed those dark days, and he’ll be traveling the country again in 2016.
