Christian Pastor Accused Of Raping Underage Girls More Than 100 Times — Told Them It Was Their Christian Duty

A Christian pastor in Mexico has been accused of raping two underage siblings more than 100 times over the course of four years, and reportedly did so while invoking “the name of God.”

According to the Huffington Post, 56-year-old Alfredo Huerta Zavala began abusing two young sisters at the ages of 9 and 10, claiming that they should trust him because Christ had ordained him to be a man of God.

“He made them believe that he was chosen by Christ and for this reason they should trust in him unconditionally.”

Mexican media outlets reported on the Christian pastor’s alleged sexual abuse on Wednesday, claiming the crimes took place at Luz del Mundo (Light of the World) church in the city of Oaxaca. The two young girls had been selected to help Alfredo Huerta Zavala with chores inside the church on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The Christian pastor allegedly took advantage of that time alone with the children innumerable times, forcing them to perform various sexual acts on him in a small church office.

The Diario de Yucatan reported that one of the girls told state prosecutors that the Christian pastor would insist that it was her duty as a Christian to perform oral sex on him whenever he wanted, describing it as “giving love orally.” Zavala allegedly believed it was within his power as a pastor to request sexual favors from the children since they were already obligated to perform tasks for him around the temple. The parents of the two sisters reportedly let the girls help the Christian pastor with the chores, but presumably had no idea of the alleged rape that was happening to them every day in private.

The alleged victims of the Christian pastor are now 13 and 14 years old. They disclosed to several other news sites that they are both now pregnant, seemingly as a result of being raped by Alfredo Huerta Zavala. Some sites reported that the Christian pastor even kept track of the menstrual cycles of the girls once they grew old enough, and was very much aware of when they would be fertile.

The alleged sexual assault continued for four years straight, with the Christian pastor continuing to convince the sisters that it was God’s will for them to do sexual favors for him.

Alfredo Huerta Zavala’s reign of terror came to an end earlier this month when he was finally arrested. He is now in custody while police investigate the case further. The Oaxaca’s Attorney General’s Office is handling the Christian pastor’s case. He could be sentenced to up to 35 years in prison if he is found guilty of raping the underage girls.

The Daily Star reported that Mexico also saw another case of shocking sexual abuse by religious leaders. A priest named Marcial Maciel Degollado was discovered to have allegedly sexually abused many children, including six that he fathered from multiple women. The Catholic leader founded the “Legion of Christ,” which was later denounced by the Vatican as a system Degollado put in place to allow him to abuse young boys. The Vatican described his actions as “true crimes and without scruples or authentic religious sentiment.”

How do you think the Christian pastor from Oaxaca should be punished? Do you think Alfredo Huerta Zavala would have attempted this alleged horrific sexual abuse if he hadn’t been the leader of a church? Is 35 years in prison enough for four years of constant sexual assault of underage children?
