Glenn Beck Says What Everyone Is Thinking About Black Friday Shoppers

Glenn Beck is not often referred to as a unifier. While many on the political right love the man, those on the left find him harder to take.

However, it is difficult to find disagreement — save for the bit of “all terrorists are Muslims” fear mongering at the beginning — with a recent Facebook post in which the conservative media pundit took aim at Black Friday, or rather the shoppers who tend to ruin the day for everyone.

“I have often wondered why Islamist haven’t hit us on Black Friday,” he says. “It wouldn’t be hard. Ten guys in five different locations and you forever change our culture and our economy. You know it and they know it. So why hasn’t it happened?”

With that question, Glenn Beck launches into a few of the potential reasons. He notes how many say that the Department of Homeland Security is “too good,” before adding sarcastically that they “hire Isis members at our airports.”

Another hypothetical he throws out is that ISIS isn’t actually here yet, before punching in another wisecracking “please.”

“They don’t have the resources (see Paris. It doesn’t take much),” the Glenn Beck post continues. “God is protecting us. (Keep reading). So why? May I suggest one theory?”

That “theory” is that ISIS doesn’t need to destroy American culture because said culture is already destroying itself and the Black Friday shoppers are mostly to blame.

“We are killing ourselves and destroying everything in our path,” Beck says before sharing a number of links to mostly real-life incidents of American shoppers being idiots.

(It’s worth mentioning here that one of those links is to a disproven hoax. The others, however, are sad reality.)

“We have taken capitalism and forgotten Adam Smith’s moral sentiments. It has become unhinged and grotesque,” Glenn Beck continued. “Things are made to be used and people were made to be loved. But our sick society has reversed those two. Now stuff is loved and people are used. This is what the rest of the world sees.”

From there, Beck theorizes that the country is no longer worthy of God’s protection. That Americans will simply “tear each other apart” if there is another Great Depression. Americans are no longer unified on anything. Everything (and everybody — perhaps even Glenn Beck himself) “divides us.”

To close, Beck concludes that Americans “are doing the work for those who want to destroy the American Experiment. Give us time! We will destroy ourselves. Shameful. Our citizenship will become an indictment rather than an honor.”

To date, Beck’s post has garnered thousands of shares, likes, and comments. It’s easy to see why some would agree after checking out the link that he shares at the bottom — a connection to his own media site, TheBlaze.

Once there, you will get to see all kinds of deranged Black Friday shoppers. Of the legitimate cases, there are two women brawling over a flat-screen television at a Walmart, two men slugging it out over God-knows-what at a Kentucky mall, a group of people fighting over shoes outside a Forever 21 store, and one person actually having the brass to take a poke at a police officer.

Perhaps the only irritating part of the Glenn Beck post is the direct referencing of “Islamist” at the beginning, which he equates to terrorism.

Meanwhile, he fails to mention that terrorism is often as homegrown as it is external. Just take, for example, the Friday Planned Parenthood shooting in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

While full motives of suspect Robert Dear haven’t been disclosed yet, Mayor John Suthers said that “inferences” could be drawn based on the location, according to Mediaite.

Nevertheless, it’s hard to feel good about a country in which crazy Black Friday shoppers exist. Do you agree with the comments of Glenn Beck? Sound off in the comments section.
