Ronda Rousey Appears In Pic On Social Media For First Time Since Loss

Ronda Rousey has been taking some time off since her devastating loss to Holly Holm. Aside from an Instagram post right after the fight assuring fans that she was okay, Rousey hasn’t appeared on social media lately — until this week.

Rousey posed for a photo standing with family members, many of whom were in funny hats, over the Thanksgiving holiday. The athlete was smiling and looked well, a relief to fans who were worried about her well-being after the hard-fought match against Holm left her bloodied and knocked out.

Ronda Rousey took to Instagram two weeks ago after the match in Melbourne, Australia to assure her fans she would be back soon, but whether that means to the ring or on to another of the many projects on her plate remains to be seen. Rousey has several films in the works, including a remake of the classic ’80s flick Roadhouse, which originally starred Patrick Swayze. While fans of the original are dubious about a new movie, many agree that it will definitely be interesting to see a female in that role.

“It is a great honor to play a part in celebrating the life of a man that inspired so many. I couldn’t be more grateful to have this opportunity to pay respect to the beloved Patrick Swayze. I promise to work incessantly to make sure this project is a tribute his family and fans can be proud of,” Rousey said on Instagram earlier this year.

Ronda Rousey will also star in a biopic about her own life. Her connection to Hollywood has led some to question where her thoughts are in regard to the gender pay gap. Rousey said recently in Australia that she thinks in the world of sports, at least, that pay should be directly connected to how much money one brings in to the organization. Specifically, she spoke about what her pay means when compared to a male in the fighting world, such as Floyd Mayweather.

“I think that how much you get paid should have something to do with how much money you bring in. I’m the highest paid fighter not because Dana White and Lorenzo Fertitta wanted to do something nice for the ladies. They do it because I bring in the highest numbers. They do it because I make them the most money. And I think the money that they make should be proportionate to the money they bring in,” Rousey said. “I don’t like to talk about exactly how much money I make, but I’m extremely comfortable and happy…If I had almost 50 fights, I’d probably be making close to the same amount of money as Floyd does. But at this point, I have eleven. I can’t expect it to be exactly equal yet, I don’t think. I have to put more time in.”

Regarding Rousey’s immediate plans for her future in the ring, things are unclear at the moment. Holly Holm has said she’s ready for a rematch if Rousey wants one, only because she knows what it feels like to lose and want retribution. However, that’s not to say she believes Rousey has a shot at winning if they go against each other a second time. When recently asked how many times out of ten Holm would win in a fight against Rousey, Holm answered 10.

“Ten. Because if I tell myself that there is one that I might not get, then I’ll be vulnerable. I also know that I’m beatable, so I’m going to train twice as hard. She’s going to come back. She’s mad that it’s not her title anymore. I’ve got to be twice as ready as last time,” Holly Holm said.
