WWE News: Vince McMahon Nixes Huge Double Turn Idea Involving Roman Reigns, Heel Run Still Possible?

We have seen a lot of good and bad ideas come forth from WWE Chairman Vince McMahon. He has turned down some ideas, rightfully, but he has cleared quite a few as well. There is also an issue when it comes to McMahon in that no one screens what he wants out there. Whether there is a fear that employees might be fired if they say his idea is bad or just going off of the thought that there really is no controlling what he does, he does have bad ideas on occasion. Most of the time, WWE fans let him know just how bad they are. He might change them after a poor response, but it is rare.

In the case of Daniel Bryan, Triple H wanted to use Bryan in a bigger way and there was even a rumor that The Game felt Bryan could be a top star in WWE; however, Vince didn’t feel the same. That was why we were given the crap angle with Batista winning the Royal Rumble that would send him to take on Randy Orton at WrestleMania 30. Vince thought it would be the greatest main event possible, but he came to his senses by listening to the fans. Now, fans have voiced displeasure again, but it might take time to see if Vince will change his mind.

According to Daily Wrestling News, a creative team member/producer brought up an idea to Vince about a double turn with Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns that would take place at WWE Survivor Series. This was planned before Rollins was injured in Europe. Apparently Vince wanted none of it and has stuck to his guns on Reigns getting the top babyface spot in WWE.

It is said that Vince has been “extremely stubborn” when it comes to Roman Reigns and his role with WWE. Vince shot the angle down quickly with Reigns, even though the person gave a complete run down and detailed plan of how it could happen and potentially what could be done with the idea. This was why there were rumors going into Survivor Series that someone like Dean Ambrose might turn because WWE was never interested in turning Reigns, despite the obvious need to do it.

However, WWE has wanted to turn Seth Rollins. As far as Vince is concerned, when it comes to Reigns, originally, turning him didn’t make sense because Rollins was good enough in the top heel spot. It is said that both Triple H and Vince both like Rollins and how well he has done as a heel for WWE and the thought among many was that he was so good as a heel that he might not be turned for a while. However, plans are rumored to be in place to have Rollins taking on Triple H at WrestleMania 32, which would obviously turn Rollins.

This is why the idea to do a double turn made sense to a lot of people; Rollins is set to turn anyway, and it would be good to already have an established heel in place to take his spot. The injury to Rollins has made most believe that a Reigns turn would be smart. WWE has now decided that Sheamus is that top heel they can work with. Although they have added Wade Barrett and Rusev to The Authority to help him out in becoming a top threat, fans have not taken to the idea of Sheamus at a top spot very well.

When it comes to Reigns, there are two thoughts among management and those within the WWE. On the one hand, some feel that Reigns has not connected well with the WWE crowd as a babyface. They also believe he’s still not over and creative has their work cut out for them.

Then, on the other hand, there are those who feel he is ready and the push to the top will finally stick this time. Triple H is not as confident in the Roman Reigns push, but he does feel good about it this time around and he is behind the idea. Despite all of this, a heel turn for Reigns is still possible. However, it might not happen unless vocal fans push for it. With Sheamus not landing as a big heel, a new turn must happen eventually. Unless that turn is John Cena (which is very doubtful), Reigns makes the most sense.

It does look like WWE will go all out to make Roman Reigns the next top guy, even if he does lose at the WWE TLC PPV. As of now, WWE is unsure about when Reigns will walk out as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Some believe it will be before WrestleMania and others believe he will win the title at WrestleMania. As of now, fans have to wait and see. If he does win it before Mania, it will most likely be at The Royal Rumble. That leaves the Rumble winner for him to face which could be interesting as Brock Lesnar has been in some discussions to face Reigns yet again on the grandest stage of them all.
