‘Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice’ Villain Revealed Months Ago? Plus More Surprising Plot Twists

With Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice still far from its theatrical release, many fans are eagerly waiting to find out more about the upcoming movie. That being said, despite all the leaks that have surfaced so far, the main plot of the film is still a bit of a mystery. In particular, producers have yet to reveal which character will be the main villain in the movie. With that in mind, was the identity of the main villain revealed months ago?

According to Movie Pilot, the official synopsis states that while Batman (Ben Affleck) and Superman (Henry Cavill) are busy fighting each other, a different threat surfaces that will put the entire world in extreme peril. Although many believe that this points to Doomsday as the big bad, director Zack Snyder’s previous comments hint at another villain altogether.

In fact, Snyder admitted in a past interview that Metallo was originally set to be the main villain in Man of Steel 2. However, with that film now on the back burner for the foreseeable future and essentially being replaced by Batman v Superman, will Snyder still include Metallo as he originally planned?

“I remember talking about ‘What’s the next villain? We can’t do another alien invasion,” Snyder stated. “Brainiac was definitely down the road. Metallo, I think, was going to be the main bad guy of this movie.”

At this point, it is entirely possible that Snyder did not scratch the idea of having Metallo as the next villain. However, pitting Superman against another metal-suited villain would seem a little repetitive. With that in mind, what are some other villains that may surface in the movie?

The only villain fans know for sure will be included in the film is Lex Luthor (Jessie Eisenberg). However, just how involved Luthor will be in the film, and whether or not he will be the main foe Superman and Batman will have to take down is yet to be seen. What Culture is reporting that there may be a larger mastermind behind Luthor’s action in the movie. After all, it is not clear how Luthor was able to get ahold of some Kryptonite, making it possible that someone else gave it to him.

While there are a number a possibilities as to who the potential mastermind could turn out to be, Darkseid is a great candidate. This is especially true given the fact that Darkseid has proven to be one of the Justice League’s most ruthless adversaries in the comics.

Furthermore, not only would Darkseid’s appearance help lead the way to the Justice League films, but it would also offer a larger story arc for the DC Comics Cinematic Universe to build upon. This is something that Marvel has done successfully with the inclusion of Thanos as a big bad pulling the strings in the Avengers franchise.

Meanwhile, perhaps the most talked about potential villain in the movie is Doomsday. In particular, the leading theory is that General Zod’s body will be made to transform into Doomsday for some kind of epic fight between Doomsday and the trio of Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman.

Although this is an exciting prospect, it doesn’t really follow suit with what happened in the comics. In fact, in the comic book version, Superman is the one who was changed into Doomsday after being hit by a virus, which could certainly be an interesting plot twist.

Whether the villain in Batman v Superman turns out to be Metallo, Luthor, Darkseid, or Doomsday is clearly going to be a major spoiler moving forward. With the release of the film still a few months away, it can only be hoped that fans will soon learn which of these characters, if any, turns out to be the main bad.
