Taylor Swift Credited With Alessia Cara’s Rising Fame And 1D’s ‘Perfect’

Taylor Swift seems to be inspiring a lot of people these days. Alessia Cara can attest to the power of inspiration because she was inspired by Taylor Swift and Adele. One Facebook post changed Alessia’s life and got her invited onstage to sing with Taylor Swift.

According to the New York Post, it all started in 2011, when Alessia Cara’s mother convinced her to post a cover of Adele’s song “One and Only” on Facebook as a confidence booster.

“Originally, the idea was just to help me be more confident. No one thought it would get me a record deal.”

That one post changed everything. Alessia got a recording contract and soon started seeing her single sell. This past Halloween, she was invited onstage to sing with Taylor Swift. She posted the experience on Instagram and the New York Post reports her blooming success is finally sinking in.

“For the past few months, I’ve just been taking it all in, but not really reacting. But after I got off stage with Taylor, my body and brain just decided to let it all out. I started crying out of nowhere.”

Who wouldn’t want to get onstage with Taylor Swift? Even One Direction is inspired by her. Well, at least it seems that one of their songs was inspired by her, although perhaps Taylor Swift’s ex-boyfriend doesn’t want to admit it. People interviewed Harry Styles who would not say the new song, called “Perfect,” was inspired by Taylor Swift.

“I think people interpret songs in different ways. I’m never going to tell someone what a song’s about because I feel like it’s up to them.”

Despite this, bandmate and co-writer of the song, Louis Tomlinson, had something different to say about the inspiration for the song.

“I think everybody draws from personal experiences, so of course to a degree I’m sure that influenced some of it. Down to specifics to who that song is exactly about, that’s fan’s interpretation, I suppose.”

Fans can be the judge of whether Taylor Swift and her relationship with Styles was the inspiration for the song when they listen to it.

As for Taylor Swift, whether she is inspiring up-and-coming stars or current ones, she is having fun. What inspires her? Fashion! Well, at least fashion excites her. She recently performed in Shanghai and according to J-14, she posted an Instagram photo of her new outfit and captioned her excitement.

“All happy cause I got a new dress and also because Shanghai crowds are insane.”

She was even caught by People sporting a shirt that spells her name. Not only does the one-piece dress spell her name, but Taylor Swift designed it herself, in collaboration with Heritage66. In fact, almost every piece of clothing in the line has a reference to her name or to songs from her hit album “1989.” Unfortunately, at this time the dress can only be bought in China, which is too bad for fans who would love to get their hands on it.

At least fans can get their hands on 1989, the Taylor Swift album that has now been in the Billboard 200 Top 10 for a year. She is only the fifth person to have ever accomplished this feat. The other four albums to have help Top 10 spots for a year include Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours (1977), Bruce Springsteen’s Born in the USA (1984), Celine Dion’s Falling Into You (1996), and Adele’s 21 (2011).
