Safaree Samuels Dissing Nicki Minaj? ‘Anaconda’ Rapper’s Ex Talks ‘Backstabbing’ On Instagram

Nicki Minaj’s ex-boyfriend, Safaree Samuels, recently announced his decision to file a lawsuit against Minaj for unpaid credits on her most successful albums, but it appears Safaree is also taking aim at Nicki on social media following the rapper’s AMAs win over the weekend.

On Sunday, Nicki Minaj was awarded the Favorite Hip-Hop Album award for her work on The Pinkprint while also snagging the Favorite Hip-Hop Artist award for the third time during the American Music Awards, Rolling Stone reports.

Not long after Nicki Minaj thanked fans for their continued support in her acceptance speech for The Pinkprint, Safaree Samuels took to Twitter to throw shade at Minaj’s victory by implying that he should have also received the award due to his contributions on Nicki’s album.

“Heard i won a award…The pen is always mightier than the sword,” Safaree wrote on Twitter regarding Nicki Minaj’s AMAs victory.

Just days later, Safaree took to Instagram to seemingly diss Nicki Minaj further by implying that Minaj stabbed him in the back when it came to his rap career.

“Moving solo leaves less room for backstabbing,” Safaree explains, “keeping the circle minimum & refocusing and keeping the eye on whats important…Take it for what it is…1st they love you then they hate you. thank God for it all…wether good or bad it’s a life experience which is a learning lesson…”

While Safaree didn’t name Nicki Minaj in his post, fans were quick to debate Safaree and Nicki’s ongoing feud and imminent lawsuit in the comments section of Samuels’ photo.

One fan argues that Nicki seemed to shade Safaree in her acceptance speech for hip-hop album of the year, noting, “I feel like [Nicki] send a subliminal to safaree like she said at the AMAs ‘live your life and find your purpose be4 its too late’…she need to give safaree 10M’s and then call it even.”

Meanwhile, other fans congratulated Safaree on his AMAs “win” while encouraging the rapper to stay positive amid his impending court battle with Nicki Minaj over receiving proper credits on her past three albums and most successful collaborations.

News of Safaree Samuels’ decision to file a lawsuit against Nicki Minaj came last week after sources close to Safaree revealed to TMZ that Samuels has a plethora of evidence of his contributions to Nicki Minaj’s music despite receiving little credit on the projects.

Safaree’s source argues that Samuels wants a cut from Nicki Minaj’s biggest singles, including her collaboration with Drake, Lil Wayne, and Chris Brown for “Only” and her collabs with Beyoncé for “Flawless (Remix)” and “Feeling Myself.”

The source further alleges that Safaree played a major role in the creation of Nicki Minaj’s The Pinkprint, Pink Friday, and Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded.

While Nicki Minaj gave executive producer credits to Safaree on her first two albums, Safaree’s source explains that Samuels feels he wasn’t compensated properly for his alleged ghostwriting on some of Nicki’s biggest hits.

Despite Nicki Minaj and Safaree Samuels having engaged in several social media feuds since calling off their 12-year relationship in 2014, Nicki has yet to speak out on Safaree’s digs on Instagram and Twitter and has yet to acknowledge her ex’s plans to seek a cut of her fortune.

Nicki Minaj and Safaree Samuels split in November of last year following rumors that Nicki was getting cozy with current boyfriend Meek Mill. While Minaj alleges that it was Safaree who led to the demise in their relationship, Safaree maintains that Nicki cheated on him despite his heavy involvement in her music career.
