Lamar Odom Health Update: Liza Morales And His Children Plan For Thanksgiving Visit

Lamar Odom reportedly suffered a drug overdose in October, and now, one month later, he remains under medical care.

Although Lamar Odom has made progress since he entered the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center at the end of last month, he reportedly has a ways to go before he’s able to leave the hospital. When he does, he will likely never be the same.

While Lamar Odom’s prognosis isn’t ideal, he is surrounded by support, and on Thanksgiving, he will receive a few special visitors in the hospital. On November 25, a source revealed the following to Radar Online, claiming Lamar Odom’s children, who are based in New York with their mother, Liza Morales, were on their way to the west coast to see their father.

“Liza and the kids are expected to arrive in Los Angeles late Wednesday or early Thursday morning. There was no other place they would want to be. It’s hard for the kids to see their dad continue to struggle since the drug overdose. The family recognizes they could have been spending the holiday without him, so they are very thankful to have [Lamar Odom] alive and on the road to recovery.”

Lamar Odom was hospitalized in Las Vegas last month after reportedly overdosing during a visit to Dennis Hof’s Love Ranch, where he partied with a number of women. Lamar Odom’s children, Destiny and Lamar Odom Jr., then traveled to Sin City with their mother, Morales, and his aunt, and remained at his side until several days later when they returned to the east coast to get back to their schooling.

Since then, Lamar Odom’s children have been supporting him from afar as his wife, Khloe Kardashian, continues to visit him in Los Angeles, although she was briefly unable due to a staph infection she contracted in the facility.

“[Lamar Odom] has made some progress, but his cognitive impairment is making life very challenging,” a source told People Magazine on November 24, explaining that Lamar Odom is unable to walk by himself.

The insider claimed Lamar Odom has been struggling to communicate verbally, which is likely the result of “oxygen deprivation and the strokes he suffered following his overdose.”

When Lamar Odom was hospitalized in Las Vegas, he was said to be in a coma and remained in a coma for days with his organs failing. Luckily, however, Lamar Odom caught a break days later, when he awoke and began communicating with doctors. Then, after a week passed, he was transferred from Las Vegas to Los Angeles via medical helicopter with his wife at his side. He’s been in L.A. ever since.

Now, as days continue to pass, Lamar Odom’s possible full recovery becomes less and less likely.

“[Lamar Odom] won’t likely leave the hospital for a long time, and when he does, he will need full time care,” the insider continued. “He can’t take care of himself. [Lamar Odom] has serious longterm and lasting issues. His life will never be the same as it once was.”

Since Lamar Odom was hospitalized, there have been several reports that claim the Kardashian family had been filming his medical crisis for upcoming episodes of Keeping Up with the Kardashians. However, at this point, it doesn’t appear he will be included. Not only has Lamar Odom not been seen on the show, he’s also not been spoken of during the series’ 11th season, which is currently airing on Sunday nights at 9 p.m. on the E! Network.
