‘Captain America: Civil War’ — Signs That The Hulk And Thor Will Not Appear

One of the biggest reasons why many fans are eagerly awaiting the release of Captain America: Civil War is the potential to see a large number of Marvel’s superheroes together yet again. However, new reports indicate that a few of those characters might not be included in the movie.

According to What Culture, there are two characters in particular that won’t make an appearance in Civil War. Disappointedly, this includes both Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo). Although there hasn’t been an official announcement on this issue, there are several clues that indicate the two will be absent from the project.

In fact, at the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron, fans watched as Hulk ran off on his own in a stolen S.H.I.E.L.D. Quinjet. While it is not known where Hulk was headed, it is very likely that he left the team to hide in isolation following all the destruction he wrought during the fight with Ultron. With Hulk being very good about keeping to the shadows, it is likely he will continue to remain that way for the new movie.

As far as Thor is concerned, the end of the last Avengers featured the character traveling back to Asgard to try and better understand the vision he had at the beginning of the film. Based on his departure and the nature of the vision, it would seem as though his task isn’t something that will be accomplished quickly.

With that in mind, it would appear as though both characters will indeed be absent from the upcoming Captain America movie. Along with this move being a major disappointment for fans, it will also have some huge implications on what unfolds in Civil War.

One such consequence of the absence of The Hulk and Thor from Captain America: Civil War centers on the amount of rational thinking the group will be lacking. Both characters have often been the ones who have prevented the group from escalating their petty infighting in the past, and their absence is probably what leads to the superheroes splitting up and fighting each other. Without their steady guidance, the battle is sure to get ugly fast.

At the same time, with both The Hulk and Thor now absent from the Marvel Universe, it really leaves Earth open for invasion. As Thanos is expected to be the main villain in Avengers: Infinity War, the events in Civil War will likely make it that much easier for Thanos to defeat the Avengers. This doesn’t bode well for the team of superheroes and might even lead to a shakeup of which heroes make up the new Avengers squad.

That being said, there is one character that will continue to be developed in Captain America: Civil War. According to Movie Pilot, that development might include a romance for Vision (Paul Bettany).

“What I love about [Vision] is that there are so many places for him to go. I think he’s very interested in what it means to be human and what love is. The only way one can guarantee one’s loyalty is love,” Bettany told the outlet. “If your logic changes suddenly and things not make sense, you can alter your allegiance, but love stops you from being able to do that.”

Based on the comics, it would seem logical that the Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) will soon become a romantic interest for Bettany’s character. In fact, the two characters actually tie the knot in the comics, and though it didn’t work out for them, there’s no reason to think that producers won’t follow suit.

Captain America: Civil War is scheduled to hit theaters everywhere on May 6, 2016.
