‘Bachelor’ Ben Higgins Jokes About People’s High Expectations Of Him

Ben Higgins is well aware of the high expectations that fans of The Bachelor have of him. On Thursday morning, Ben joked about the high expectations.

A fan tweeted that Ben, who is the star of the next season, is a perfect 10. Ben replied that “at least expectations are low.” The 20th season premieres on Monday, Jan. 4, 2016.

Ben also joked that he’ll cry in happiness with a fan over the new season.

The show itself has helped set up viewers’ high expectations. Last week, the first official promo for Ben’s season was released. A voice over declares that this season, viewers are getting “the perfect 10” in “perfect Ben.”

“There have been many perfect Bachelors but this season we’re giving you the perfect 10, I mean perfect Ben.”

The promo shows that two of the 25 contenders that viewers will see vying for Ben’s heart are twins. They come out of the limo one after the other, to which Ben exclaims “no way” and asks for a group hug. The twins say yes in unison.

Ben’s tweet confirms that filming for season 20 has finished. Sent from Indiana, it’s likely that Ben is now with family for the Thanksgiving holiday.

The shows’s creator and executive producer, Mike Fleiss, tweeted Monday that it’s not too early for fans of the franchise to give thanks for the upcoming season. He added that Ben Higgins’ season may be his favorite one since season 13, which starred Jason Mesnick. Jason ultimately chose his runner-up Molly Malaney, after breaking up with his original choice Melissa Rycroft, to be his wife. Jason and Molly are are still married today and have a daughter together, in addition to Jason’s son from a previous relationship.

Molly thanked Mike for his compliment and said that she can’t wait to watch Ben.

Ben Higgins was the third runner-up, coming behind Nick Viall and Shawn Booth, on Kaitlyn Bristowe’s season of The Bachelorette. During filming, Ben confessed to Kaitlyn that his biggest fear is that he’s unlovable, something that Kaitlyn found hard to believe because of his personality, heart, and looks. While many of the contestants on Kaitlyn’s season got into heated arguments with one another during filming, Ben stayed out of the drama. Even when Nick and Shawn’s feud got particularly bad towards the end of the process, Ben didn’t take sides.

In Ireland, when Kaitlyn told him that he would be going home, he remained calm and composed. In her People blog post that recapped the episode in which she sent Ben home, Kaitlyn praised Ben.

“Ben was always nothing but sweet, genuine and open with me. I will forever be grateful I got to meet him and that he was a part of this journey with me.”

Both Nick Viall and Shawn Booth have also had nothing but good things to say about Ben. Shawn became good friends with Ben while filming the show. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, after it was announced that Ben had been chosen as the next Bachelor star, Shawn tweeted Ben congratulations and said that he can’t think of anyone more deserving of the opportunity.

Nick, who was rumored to be in the running for the role, told Us Weekly that the network made “a great choice” in going with Ben.

“I think ABC made a great choice. I think he’s one of the few people that actually lives up to the hype. He’s a very sweet guy and now that he’s the leading guy I hope we get to see the other great sides of Ben. Ben has an edge and I hope that he shows it!”
