Glitter Beard: The Hot New Holiday Trend For Men [Must-See]

For all the bearded gentlemen out there who want to show off their sense of style this Christmas, the new glitter beard trend is a popular choice today.

The new trend first appeared on the image-sharing website Instagram, where a few bearded users just began to apply glitter to their moustache, beard, and other facial hair. The hashtag #glitterbeard has become popular starting last week.

The trend is presumed to have come out sometime around this year’s “No-Shave November,” and consequently, they have discovered a unique way to spruce up men’s beards in time for the holidays.

YouTubers Brian and Jonathan, otherwise known as The Gay Beards, have been sporting the glitter beard look, which has been receiving a lot of attention online as of late.

In one of their videos, they show a step-by-step tutorial of how viewers can get the glitter beard look, claiming that it is not that difficult to do.

“It took a lot of attempts to get the proper glitter beards even though we’ve improved our glitter bearding [technique],” the duo said.

The Gay Beards Shows You How To Glitter Beard

The Gay Beards recommended the use of beard oil or hairspray in preparing one’s beard to make it easier to wash off the glitter afterwards. However, the popular YouTubers warned people who may want to try the glitter beard.

“Every time we do glitter beard, we get a little bit nervous before we put it on because there’s no going back… glitterally,” they said.

Aside from the fact that the glittery beard interferes with eating, drinking, and doing anything that requires use of the mouth, it is also difficult to clean off completely. The problem is more evident among people who have thicker beards because the glitter particles tend to sneak their way in every crevice and corner of their beards. People should also expect to find glitter on their clothing, in their house, and pretty much every place they go to.

Regardless of the inconveniences that come with sporting a glitter beard, it actually looks cool and is the perfect Christmas-themed style for bearded men.

According to the people who have done it and have shared their creations on Instagram, it can be done in a variety of ways. Some people use a whole lot of golden glitter so that their beard is almost completely covered. There are also enthusiasts who have used multi-colored glitter to create a more chic effect. As if the look wasn’t flashy enough, some people accentuated their glitter beards with glitter eye shadow. The glitter beard trend has gotten so hot that some ladies are doing it as well.

This is not the first time the beard has been seen as a Christmas decoration. Last year, “beard baubles” was promoted and popularized by an East London advertising company.

The style aimed to make a person’s beard look like a Christmas tree, with various colored balls attached to one’s facial hair. But unlike glitter beard, beard baubles are obviously easier to maintain, and can be done in a matter of minutes.

In addition, this is also not glitter’s first appearance in a recent fashion trend.

Earlier this month, the “glitter roots” trend took the social media world by storm. The look made use of simple hair oil and glitter, which one applied to the roots of the hair, thereby covering any uncolored roots.

Depending on the creativity and preference of the person, one can use a single color or use several colors for a more festive effect.

Even before glitter roots became popular on social media, Miley Cyrus rocked the hairstyle during the Met Gala event in New York City earlier this year.

Gone are the days when glitter was used mainly for art projects – with glitter roots and glitter beard, who knows what people will think of next.
