Gwen Stefani Praised By Blake Shelton For American Music Awards: ‘Used To Love You’ Reacts To Ex’s Nanny Affair

Gwen Stefani received support from her country crooner boyfriend, Blake Shelton, even before she uttered a note of what turned out to be an emotional performance at the American Music Awards. Although he could not attend the AMAs, Blake took to Twitter to show his enthusiasm for and belief in Gwen when it came to her musical talents, reported E News.

“Prepare for greatness..#AmericanMusicAwards,” tweeted Shelton prior to the show and the heartfelt performance from Stefani of “Used To Love You.”

Hosted by Jennifer Lopez, the American Music Awards featured Gwen in a striking rendition of her single, and the song hinted that her heartbreak from her split with Gavin Rossdale following his affair hasn’t yet healed.

In the aftermath of Nannygate, Stefani responded during an interview to rumors that her now ex-husband had been unfaithful to her by having an intimate relationship with the family nanny.

“I feel like I go back and listen to a lot of that stuff, and I get sick,” said Gwen. “You look at the song and you go, ‘That was a red flag. That was a moment where I was feeling just as bad as I feel today and why did I keep it up?’ ”

But now that Stefani has resolved to move forward, part of her healing has come through music. After Gwen sang “Used To Love You,” a fan wrote that he felt Stefani had achieved the best performance at the American Music Awards. Blake followed up to show his pride in his girlfriend.

“Agreed,” stated Shelton.

Gwen also stunned on the red carpet with her startlingly stunning outfit. The pop singer chose a dark Yousef Al-Jasmi gown, enhancing the sheer dress with a choker and throwback hairstyle. However, prior to her performance, Stefani slipped into a sexy black dress with cutouts, going from that retro hairdo to sleek and slick.

For Gwen and Blake, it’s been a long year, filled with emotion, as both of them suffered through divorces. But now that Stefani and Shelton are confirmed as a couple, the country crooner’s pal, Luke Bryan, is happy for him, reported ET.

“I laugh at how the hell he scored Gwen,” declared Luke. “What I love is the thing that came out — that she didn’t know who the hell he was before The Voice. I was like, ‘Well, she was lucky back then.’ The whole thing with a relationship is enjoy it and have fun. They’re having fun and that’s a good thing.”

The comment that Gwen was not familiar with Blake was a revelation made by the pop singer previously in an interview. Stefani confessed that prior to her introduction to Shelton on The Voice, she didn’t even know of the country crooner.

Gwen released her new song “Used to Love You” last month, marking the two-month milestone of her divorce announcement from Gavin, reported Entertainment Tonight.

A source revealed to ET that unknown to Stefani, Rossdale had been cheating on her for years with the family nanny. But since Gwen learned about the affair, she has referred to how she felt about it only in subtle ways.

“The biggest gift has been to be able to take some tragedy and write a song about it and share that,” said Stefani. “The rewards that I’ve gotten through that is just unbelievable.”

And among the rewards related to music has been Gwen’s blossoming romance with Shelton, as the Inquisitr reported. The two coaches on The Voice have been enjoying flirty fun that even takes place during breaks on their reality TV competition. Audiences for the filmed show have been able to watch Blake making a beeline for his new girlfriend during commercial breaks, while the broadcast show has shown Shelton praising Stefani and Team Gwen.
