Joey Feek Of Joey And Rory Update: ‘I Want To Raise Our Baby’

The first snow of the season is a magical experience. It marks the beginning of winter and reminds us that the holidays are quickly approaching. Looking out the window and seeing those beautiful white snowflakes falling from the sky is an exciting sight for anyone of any age, but not as exciting as it was for Joey Feek.

Joey has been fighting a fierce battle with the “monster” we call cancer for over a year now. She was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2014 and found out the cancer had returned, and spread to her colon, in mid-October. Shortly after, Joey made the decision to stop treatment and return to her home to live out her final days with her family in hospice care.

Joey Feek knows her days are limited, but she somehow manages to cling to hope and her unwavering faith. Rory Feek, Joey’s husband and duet partner, has been documenting her battle on his blog, This Life I Live, sharing updates on Joey’s condition for all of the fans of Joey and Rory.

Earlier today, Rory wrote a blog post called, “Manna From Heaven,” in which he described the first snowfall in Indiana, where the couple is currently staying with family.

“I was sitting next to her bed – holding her in my arms, when she happened to look up and see the white coming down through her window,” Rory wrote. “You would’ve thought the heavens had parted and Jesus had come back, by the light in her eyes.”

While Joey Feek has remained strong in her faith and insisted she is not angry with God, there are some moments that are just too overwhelming, and it makes her realize that she will not be here to help Rory raise their 21-month-old daughter, Indiana (“Indy” for short).

Rory explained that his friend had sent him a photo of his young daughter Scout, who was born with Loeys-Dietz syndrome, “a connective-tissue disorder that affects her heart and a thousand other things.”

In the picture, Scout was riding a horse, and Rory’s friend wrote, “Scout can’t wait until Indiana joins her at camp.”

When Joey saw the picture, she broke down.

“Then suddenly her hands started shaking and she closed her eyes and started sobbing.

“I wasn’t sure what had happened – what the pain was that she was feeling – so I tried to put my arms around her and asked, ‘what’s wrong,’ and then through her tears, she said the words….

“…the ones I knew she felt, but she had never said before.

“…the words that are the hardest, most-difficult part of all that she, and we, are going through:

“‘I want to raise our baby,'” she cried, and her tears fell harder… ‘I want to be the one to teach her.'”

Despite the emotions she was feeling, looking outside and seeing a blanket of snow falling to the ground seemed to comfort Joey, as she never thought she would get to see it snow again.

“‘I didn’t think I’d get to see snow again.'” And she looked at me, then raised her eyes up at sky and said ‘if this is the last snow I ever see, thank you Jesus… thank you.’ Like manna from Heaven,” Feek wrote. “God sent us just what we needed… just when we needed it. He always does.”

As the Inquisitr previously reported, RFD-TV, the network that aired The Joey + Rory Show, announced that they would be running an all-day marathon of the reality show on Thanksgiving starting at 9 a.m. ET and ending at 2 p.m. ET. Later that night, at 7:30 p.m. ET, the RFD-TV will air a special called To Joey + Rory With Love to celebrate Joey’s life and musical career.
