‘Star Wars Battlefront’ A Big Disappointment To Many Fans Making Saving The Universe A Big Chore

Star Wars Battlefront was finally released to the general public by DICE, the Swedish studio responsible for the release of all the Battlefield games. It is a multiplayer shooter game reminiscent of the shooter games of the early 2000s.

As reported in the Washington Post, playing the game is a chore that fans will not enjoy. The game offers a lot of Stars Wars iconography that isn’t attached to the Star Wars narrative of the stories. It also contains five tutorial missions, nine multiplayer game levels and two single player modes. These are spread across 12 different game maps, which is what makes it such a chore.

The centerpiece of the game is called “Supremacy,” which is a 40 player pell-mell where teams compete to capture specific control points that are spread across the map. Since only four of the 13 maps have the ability to be played in this mode, it limits game play and it’s similar to playing a tug of war. If playing in the 40 player mode, players may find the “Walker Assault” to be the most interesting of all the levels.

Several of the modes are built around familiar characters like Luke, Leia, Emperor Palpatine, Darth Vader, Han Solo, and Boba Fett. Each character has its owns abilities, and it takes awhile for the characters to die. Although the modes sound interesting, the lightsaber attacks, lightning blasts and shoulder charges don’t mesh well with the gun play.

As previously reported in Inquisitr, the trailer for the game was released and showed new heroes, as well as familiar characters that may be played in the game. Darth Vader faces off against Han Solo, while Princess Leia faces off against Boba Fett. The scenes between Darth Vader and Han Solo are reminiscent of the Cloud City scenes in the Empire Strikes Back.

Tech Insider reported that Star Wars Battlefront was so disappointing that even the most die hard Star Wars fans wouldn’t want to play Battlefront. Article author Steve Kovach said that the new Star Wars Battlefront game allows players to play Darth Vader and slice and dice their way through the various levels. Players may also fly an X-fighter and engage in aerial battles. There are also 39 different battlefields based on planets from the movies. The game does includes lots of references to the original trilogy.

According to Kovach, instead of unlocking the Star Wars universe and making it a fun place to play, Battlefront comes across as a generic shooting game and turns into an exercise in drudgery and monotony and didn’t come across as fun. The game also isn’t meant to be played alone. When playing alone, single players are dropped into a battlefield to play against plenty of computer generated characters who are trying to hunt you down.

This requires killing as many of the computer characters as possible while looking for tokens to get the power ups for new weapons and special abilities. Since it’s dull and repetitive, it makes the game less fun. The process for searching for tokens in the multiplayer mode was also reported to be tedious. Many of the levels are simply about running around and shooting.

For those looking for engaging game play, Star Wars Battlefront may not be the game to play even though it has many engaging qualities like graphics, sound design, and other details. For those who are willing to stick to the game, it is possible to dominate the game in multiplayer mode, something some players may enjoy.

Do you plan to buy or have you bought Star Wars Battlefront? Did you like playing the game or did you find it disappointing?
