Rihanna To Confirm ‘Anti’ Release Date During AMAs? Rumors Suggest Announcement Is Coming

Rihanna has been keeping fans eagerly awaiting the arrival of her eighth studio album, Anti, since rumors began swirling about the project last year, but it looks like Rihanna may be ready to unveil the official release date for her new album during tonight’s American Music Awards.

Earlier this week, Rihanna took to Instagram to share a video teaser for her “ANTIdiaRy” which features a short promo clip for Rihanna’s album alongside several grainy images set to snippets from Rihanna’s latest single, “B**** Better Have My Money,” BET reports.

Rihanna’s teaser then advised fans to visit her website dedicated to Anti‘s diary, which shows Rihanna’s Instagram teaser playing in the background alongside the message, “She’s waiting for you. Are you in?”

For fans who accessed the site via their mobile device, Rihanna provides a cryptic message regarding the imminent release of Anti, “You’ll know when it’s time.”

The website, provided by Samsung, comes just weeks after reports confirmed that Rihanna has partnered with the brand to promote Anti and its subsequent tour. The partnership has sparked rumors that Samsung owners may be able to access Rihanna’s upcoming album prior to its official release, similar to a deal that Rihanna’s mentor, Jay Z, secured that allowed 1 million Samsung customers to access Jay Z’s 12th studio album on an exclusive app prior to his album’s retail release, Billboard reports.

Similarly, rumors have also suggested that Rihanna’s Anti album may be available for an exclusive first-listen on Jay Z’s Tidal music streaming service, given that Rihanna was one of many artists who agreed to release exclusive content on the site in order to promote the service.

Now, new rumors have emerged in the past 24 hours suggesting that Rihanna may be gearing up to release the full version of her “ANTIdiaRy” during tonight’s AMAs, although Rihanna has not confirmed those rumors personally.

“#ANTIdiaRy” began trending on Twitter early Sunday morning, leaving fans to speculate that Rihanna may release the full promotional video for Anti while also confirming its official release date during the American Music Awards.

In addition, Samsung’s official Twitter page tweeted out a message on Sunday that seemed to tease a cryptic message regarding Rihanna’s new album.

“The crown is hers. Will you follow her lead?” Samsung’s Twitter post reads, alongside a photo of a crown that closely resembles the one featured on Anti‘s cover art.

According to Hits Daily Double, Rihanna’s “ANTIdiaRy” will see an official launch “during the beginning of the American Music Awards” on Sunday, and will give Rihanna fans “exclusive access and information” regarding Anti.

The site also alleges that Rihanna’s sources say Anti will see an exclusive release on Jay Z’s Tidal on November 27 before hitting digital retailers on December 4 for the album’s “official” release date.

The news comes just days after Rihanna’s ex-boyfriend, Chris Brown, “quietly” moved the release date of his Royalty album back to December. While Chris Brown has yet to confirm the new release date or give fans an explanation regarding the delay, rumors began suggesting that Chris Brown did not want to “clash” with the release of Rihanna’s Anti album on Tidal.

However, SingersRoom alleges that Chris Brown is still working on new music for the album and needed a few extra weeks in order to put the finishing touches on the project. Sources have suggested that Chris Brown has pushed back the release of Royalty to December 18 and dispel rumors that suggest Rihanna was the reason for delaying the album.

Rihanna is nominated for three American Music Awards tonight, including “Song of the Year” and “Collaboration of the Year,” for her work with Kanye West and Paul McCartney for “FourFiveSeconds,” as well as for “Favorite Female Artist – Soul/R&B.”

The 2015 American Music Awards will air live tonight beginning at 8 p.m. E.T. on ABC.
