Ed Sheeran’s Secret Adviser: Which Mega-Star Has Been Whispering In Ed’s Ear?

Ed Sheeran has become one of the most well-known and most-loved megastars on the planet. He worked long and hard to get where he is today. But it turns out that the man who owns the company that manages Ed Sheeran and his music career is a legend in his own right – Sir Elton John! Rolling Stone recently spoke with Elton about his role in Ed Sheeran’s career. Apparently, Ed Sheeran asks Elton for advice and gets it.

“I’ve been advising him, and own the company that manages him. He asks me for advice. For example, a couple of years ago, he told me that the record company wanted a follow up to +, but he was also offered a tour with Taylor Swift, 88 shows in America. He said to me. ‘What should I do?’ I said to him, ‘It’s a no-brainer. You do the 88 shows with Taylor Swift. She’ll be on top of the bill. You’ll be coming on when people are coming in. It’s not your audience. It’ll give you so much backbone, and you can’t buy that experience. And you know Taylor. You like her. Do that — there’s plenty of time for a second record.’ “

Well said, Elton! Elton also feels that as amazing as Ed Sheeran is performing on his own, he will need other musicians eventually.

“That’s unique. I mean, I played Madison Square Garden on my own, but he did Wembley Stadium three nights, which was 85,000 people a night on his own. It’s astonishing. It’s very brave. But sooner or later, he’s gonna have to get some other musicians. He’s such a good musician that he will not be satisfied with just playing on his own.”

It seems that Ed Sheeran has been dabbling in playing with other musicians. According to Radio Times, he will be appearing on X Factor on Saturday night with Rudimental as they perform their hit “Lay It All On Me.”

Ed Sheeran has been on X Factor before, again pairing up with another musician, Ben Haenow. The “Lay It All On Me” video was released on November 6.

Ed Sheeran might be able to wow a crowd with an acoustic guitar and his voice, but it took a long time for him to get his break. According to Now Magazine, he likes to reminisce about the past. He did so on Twitter when responding to @Popjustice, who posted a link to this article of Ed Sheeran auditioning for Britannia High. Ed’s response was classic.

“@Popjustice anyway, your research didn’t go back as far as this, I have worse s**t out there”

Honestly, there is little chance of fans finding anything Ed Sheeran ever did as anything short of brilliant. And he must be doing something right these days, because he just walked away from the Billboard Touring Awards with the award for Breakthrough Artist. According to Billboard, Sheeran wasn’t onsite to accept the award, but had a pre-recorded video played, in which he gave his thanks.

“Thank you so much for this award. This is my first live award in America, which is a great honor.”

With Elton John advising him and the incredible talent he displays, Ed Sheeran will continue to wow crowds whether he is on his own or adds other musicians to his act. Simply put, he will always be adored by fans and respected by his professional peers for what he contributes to the music industry, one fabulous song at a time.
