Adele’s Determined To Keep Her Son Hidden: Find Out Why

Adele is melting hearts once again. After taking four years off to enjoy just being a mom, she is back stronger than ever. It seems Adele has proved absence does indeed make the heart grow fonder. Her new album, 25, was released on November 20 to rave reviews.

USA Today reports that the songs on 25 are at a maturity level that is closer to thirty-five or even forty-five, rather than Adele’s twenty-seven years. Adele’s reason for that? Her son. Now 3-years-old, Adele said her son, Angelo, is the reason she has grown up.

“[My son is] the main reason I’ve grown up. I hope as he gets older, I have a little me time as well.”

Adele also made it clear that until Angelo is old enough to decide for himself whether he wants to be in the spotlight, she and her partner (and Angelo’s dad), Simon Konecki, will keep him out of it.

“I don’t want that for [Angelo] until he can start making his own decisions. Right now he can choose if he wants a bag of crisps or a banana, but he can’t make a choice about being in the public eye. If when he’s 16 he wants to be known for being my child, he can do that. But right now he’s very much a minor, and we have vowed to make that decision for him.”

Angelo might avoid the spotlight, but his mommy, Adele, is very much in it once again. She performed at New York’s Radio City Music Hall on Tuesday night and she sang one of the new songs from 25 called, “Water Under the Bridge.” Adele told DJ Zane Lowe about the new song, reports Harper’s Bazaar.

“‘Water Under the Bridge’ is more like, I’m waiting for him to be horrible but I don’t think he’s gonna be, waiting for the relationship to end. This is the relationship now that I’m gonna be in. It was quite a groundbreaking moment.”

Fans enjoyed the harmonies and strong percussion of the song.

Previously, Adele released the first song off the album, “Hello,” which soon became a number one hit around the world.

With the album just released, fans might be surprised to find out that they won’t be able to stream it. The New York Times reports that Adele announced on Thursday that 25 will not be available for streaming on services such as Apple Music and Spotify. The concept of streaming is being hailed as the future of music, but it is controversial because of the lack of control it gives musicians over their music. Major artists have enough leverage to be able to say they don’t want to live stream their music and Adele has chosen that route.

Mark Mulligan, a digital media analyst with Midia Research, tells The New York Times that while not streaming the new album is not an issue for Adele, it is an issue for the streaming services.

“This is a minor issue for Adele, but a major issue for the streaming services. For two years running they’ve not had the biggest album of the year.”

And Adele’s 25 is expected to be big. According to Billboard, 3.6 million copies will be shipped throughout the U.S. and Sony has projected 1.5 million sales in the first week. Without streaming, it is certain Adele will come out on top and so will fans who buy the new CD. Her soulful voice will be welcomed in many homes across the U.S. with the release of 25.
