Man With Sword At Apple Store On 5th Avenue: Samurai Sword Swinger Tackled And Arrested [Video]

A man wreaked havoc inside an Apple Store in New York, reports the New York Times, when the man began swinging a real sword in the Apple Store of Fifth Avenue. As seen in the below video, the man had a samurai sword that he flailed about as scared Apple Store customers and employees looked at him with nervousness. One Apple Store employee can be seen in the video asking, “What the f***?” as the man continues to swing his sword on the spiral glass staircase, up high in the center of the Apple Store.

With New York already on edge due to threats from ISIS that have directly targeted Times Square, a man swinging a sword in the Apple Store did nothing to help sooth frayed nerves of tourists and native New Yorkers. The video was posted to Instagram, showing the man with the sword walking up the stairs and lunging and sitting on the stairs along with swinging the sword. The Apple Store incident occurred at approximately 3:55 p.m.

By 4:04 p.m. ET on November 20, the man had been subdued by New York cops, who were already inside the Apple Store. As seen in the below photo from the Twitter account of Keith Davis, cops have the man on the ground and the sword in their hands.

Meanwhile, Apple Store employees like John Clyde @OfficialClyde describe just how frightening it was to see a man pull out a sword inside an Apple Store and begin to wave it around. Indeed, in the video footage of the incident, confused Apple Store patrons view the scene, walk around nervously on their phones and appear to not know what to do. Some seem to be on the verge of leaving the Apple Store, even as their curiosity is getting the better of them as they continue to watch the man wielding the sword inside an unlikely place.

“A man pulled out a samurai sword inside the Apple Store today while I was working & I don’t think I’ve ever been so scared in my entire life.”

According to ABC 7 New York, the man with the sword who was inside the Apple Store has not had his name releaed. However, the samurai sword wielding man was taken to Bellevue Hospital after being removed from the Apple Store. It’s an institution known for treating people with mental disorders.

Thankfully, despite the scary situation involving the man with the sword inside the Apple Store, no one was hurt in the incident. However, the man who had the sword inside the Apple Store was charged due to bringing the weapon inside the store and using it in a menacing manner. He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, as well as menacing the Apple Store patrons and employees due to swinging the sword around meancingly.

It wasn’t just any Apple Store that the 30-year-old chose to swing his sword around within. He chose the flagship Manhattan Apple Store on 59^th Street and Fifth Avenue, a famous Apple Store location. On Friday, not only was the man with the sword swinging it around, he was also yelling as well. The sight made for a scary scene in the Apple Store for both customers and employees who didn’t know the sword-wielding guy’s next move.

With Apple Store locations generally representing a place to pick up the latest fun gadget, a sword-wielding man was quite a scary sight for shoppers at the Apple Store.
