‘Royal Family Holiday’: TV One’s Wonderful Thanksgiving Movie Brings Loads Of Drama, Starring Vivica A. Fox, Debbi Morgan, And Romeo Miller

Royal Family Holiday, also known as Royal Family Thanksgiving, is an enjoyable new movie that will come to the TV One channel this weekend. According to TV One’s website, Royal Family Holiday has an all-star cast, including Vivica A. Fox as Mona, Debbi Morgan as Alfreda Royal, Richard Lawson as Leighton Royal, Tichina Arnold as Chevonne, Ricky Harris as Nelson Royal, and Romeo Miller. Royal Family Holiday, aka Royal Family Thanksgiving, is directed by Lance Kawas and written by Rhonda Baraka, with Chevonne O’Shaughnessy as executive producer.

Filmed in over 20 locations in Detroit, Michigan, and produced by American Cinema International, TV One’s Royal Family Holiday centers around Alfreda and Leighton Royal, the mother and father of the family who appears to be having marital troubles. What their kids don’t know is that the Royals have faked their martial troubles to get all of the kids to come to the home during the Thanksgiving holidays. With all of their busy schedules, it seems that they have forgotten what’s important in life — family. And that’s just what Alfreda and Leighton Royal hope their children will appreciate once they believe that good ol’ mom and dad are on the verge of breaking up.

But what seems like a good plan slowly evolves into bigger problems, as Alfreda’s jealous and over-the-top sister Mona comes to town. Alfreda loves Mona, but Mona’s jealous side bites and distracts, as Alfreda and Leighton try to convince the kids that they are no longer happy together.

Not only are they not prepared for Mona’s sudden appearance, they are also ill-prepared for all of the family drama that develops after a deep family secret, involving Chivonne (Cheveonne) is exposed. And Nelson Royal, Leighton’s loud-mouth cousin, doesn’t help the situation, either. Will the Royals marriage survive all of this messiness, or will the drama really drive a wedge between Alfreda and Leighton, causing them to break up — for real.

Royal Family Holiday (Royal Family Thanksgiving) is a tender movie that will make you laugh but will also make one sit back and ponder over life’s precious moments. Set against a backdrop of black life, good music, and good food, TV One viewers will also get to see some nice scenery that Detroit has to offer in this new holiday flick. Plus, the acting is impressive and guaranteed to satisfy TV One’s most loyal watchers.

There is also an element of realism in the movie. In an interview with ABC-7 News Detroit, Debbi Morgan stated that Royal Family has some funny but intense moments that everyone will be able to relate to. After all, who doesn’t have a bit of drama at every family get-together? The story of the Royals has a real feel to it. There’s nothing fake about the storyline. In fact, research shows that holiday time is the most depressing time for many elderly people in their 70s and 80s. Many older couples have children — who either live too far away — or who don’t come to see them as often, due to their own busy schedules.

Hopefully, Royal Family Holiday will help young adults put this into perspective, so that they make time for their aging parents. Set your timers for 8 p.m., this Saturday, please. You won’t want to miss this entertainingly satisfying movie. Below is TV One’s official tease, according to TV Tango. Take a look at these two movies from TV One: Runaway Island and Will To Love.

“The Royal family, led by patriarch Leighton and matriarch Alfreda, want their overly busy children to visit for the Thanksgiving holiday. In order to get their attention, they concoct a fake break-up ruse to lure them home to help in this family crisis. Surprises and challenges ensue, including drama with Alfreda’s envious sister Mona Levi; the revelation of a deep, dark family secret involving Alfreda’s former acquaintance Chivonne Price; and dealings with Leighton’s super-loud, outspoken cousin Nelson Royal. Unfortunately, Leighton and Alfreda both play their roles too well as old wounds are re-opened and their carefully planned reunion leads to chaos and a potentially real break-up of their marriage.”
