WWE News: Latest Update On The Rock Appearing At ‘WrestleMania 32’

The Rock is arguably the greatest sports entertainer to ever live. He’s right up there with Shawn Michaels, Ric Flair, Stone Cold Steve Austin and the Undertaker. Austin, Flair and Michaels retired when the time was appropriate. The Undertaker is still ruling the WWE, but it won’t last much longer. That leaves the WWE Universe with The Rock, who can return at any moment.

Instead of competing in a match, The Rock made a surprise appearance at WrestleMania 31. With Ronda Rousey, former-UFC Women’s Bantamweight champion, they confronted Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. It was a strategic way to incorporate two of the biggest stars in the world today at the same time. Needless to say, the WWE did it to perfection.

Rousey, who reportedly wants to be in the WWE at some point, showed off her skills against the COO of the WWE as the crowd in Santa Clara went crazy. The Rock also displayed his masterful mic skills in the segment. Even though he comes and goes, the WWE misses The Rock at times. He didn’t have to be the most-technical wrestler the WWE ever had. As long as The Rock was himself, the WWE was in good hands.

Everybody wants to know if the WWE is planning something for Dwayne Johnson at WrestleMania 32. According to Wrestling Inc and the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, The Rock may not make it to WrestleMania 32 this year.

“In an update, those close to Rock noted to The Observer this week that his status for the show is doubtful but that’s not quite 100% yet. As it stands right now, Rock may not be able to appear at all as he has a movie filming during WrestleMania weekend. It was noted that an appearance would be challenging to pull off but it was also made clear that it can be done.”

Rock will certainly be missed at the Grandest Stage of Them All next year. He’s usually good for a surprise appearance. If he does, it will be to enhance something, maybe a young star in a promo. That’s the wise way to use the former-WWE champion. Despite all of his successes recently, The Rock opened up about his path to the WWE.

Event through all of his accomplishments, the Rock’s road to professional wrestling wasn’t bells and whistles. There were tough times in his life, albeit, very hard to believe. He was a second-generation wrestler with a bloodline in the industry. In a recent interview with Fox Sports, the Rock opened up about his depression, which transitioned to the wrestling ring.

“After about a month and a half of staying in that little apartment and cleaning, I got a phone call from the coach of the team who cut me. The coach of the Calgary Stampeders. He called me and said, ‘Hey, I know we cut you, but I’d like you to come back.’ I said, ‘I appreciate that coach, thank you very much. I’ll think about it.’

“I hung up the phone and my dad said, ‘You’re going to do it, right?’ I said, ‘No. I don’t think so. I think I’m done with that.’ He said, ‘What?’ I said, ‘My gut tells me I’m done.’ He said, ‘What are you going to do?’ I took a deep breath and said, ‘I’d like to get into the business.’ He said, ‘What business?’ I said, ‘The wrestling business.'”

The Rock’s father said he was throwing everything away and ruining his career. The Rock went on to say that he felt it was the right thing to do in his heart. He’s a monumental staple of the WWE and without him at WrestleMania, that will be the first one since WrestleMania 26 that he’ll miss. Whether it was a guest spot or as the host, the Rock hasn’t missed WWE’s biggest show in a while. It’s time for the young stars to shine.
