Jon ‘Bones’ Jones Is Massive, Bulks Up For UFC Comeback In April

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon “Bones” Jones posted his recent
“off-season” body on image-sharing website Instagram and compared it to his body a couple of years ago.

In the social media post, it is apparent that Jones has been doing some heavy weightlifting lately, as showcased by his ripped chest muscles and more defined arm muscles.

The 28-year-old former champion said in the caption: “Off season 2013 vs off season 2015. Five more months to prepare for this win. I’ll be sure to be at my best April 23rd.” Another recent post shows Jon Jones lifting 600 pounds of weight, which he seems to be doing every day. Due to his incredible strength, he has received criticisms from some MMA fans claiming that he’s using performance enhancement drugs (PEDs), which causes him to have “superhuman” strength.

However, he addressed this issue through social media, saying that the rumor only made him happier and that it serves as a compliment to his trainers, who helped him bulk up. He said that he’s been in bodybuilding training camp for seven months already.

He added that “[he] would never in 1 million years…” use such drugs.

While no exact schedule has been announced on April 23, UFC has already booked the Madison Square Garden on that day. This could mean that UFC will finally bring MMA to New York City for UFC 198.

Jon “Bones” Jones, who hails from New York, is definitely “beefing up” for a possible fight to regain his UFC light heavyweight championship from rival Daniel Cormier. And based on his Instagram post, he’s not just showing up to the fight, but will be “at [his] best.”

Cormier and Jon Jones have already faced each other earlier this year at UFC 182. The then-reigning UFC light flyweight champion Jones successfully defended his title via unanimous decision from the three judges.

During their January bout, it was apparent that Jones had a huge advantage in size, and Cormier needed to cut the distance between them. The Olympian wrestler successfully did so in the first few rounds of the fight, although Jones managed to keep a healthy distance all throughout the fight with his kicks.

Jon Jones Defends UFC Light Heavyweight Title Vs. Danile Cormier In January

While Cormier was able to win the judges’ favor in the second round, Jon Jones dominated the first and last three rounds, thereby nabbing his 15th win in the UFC..

Jon Jones has had his share of run-ins with law, including one involving in a hit-and-run accident in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in April.

He was also charged with DUI in 2012, and was found positive for cocaine use based on a drug test taken in 2014.

As a result, the UFC stripped him of his title, and he was “suspended indefinitely” from the UFC roster.

Cormier, on the other hand, won the vacant UFC light heavyweight belt after tapping out Anthony Johnson during UFC 187 at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas in May.

The Louisiana native endured Johnson’s “massive overhand right” in the opening seconds of the bout, which could have finished off other fighters.

But not Cormier, who spent the rest of the match with Johnson on the mat putting his world-renowned wrestling skills to good use.

“Hell, he did everything I thought he was going to do,” Johnson said after the fight. “He’s a beast. He talked a lot and he backed it up.”

However, while Cormier is now the reigning UFC light heavyweight champ, he still needs to beat one last guy in order to cement his status among the UFC’s greats – and that’s Jon Jones.
