Why Kaitlyn Bristowe And Shawn Booth Are Spending The Night Outside In Just A Sleeping Bag

The so-far-successful Bachelorette couple, Kaitlyn Bristowe and Shawn Booth, recently revealed to ET Canada that their relationship is going strong — so much so they were willing to conduct an interview with host Erin Cebula while in bathrobes to discuss their romantic adventures.

On the evening of November 19, Bristowe and Booth are spending the night outside in Vancouver in just a sleeping bag, but it’s not an attempt to keep up the romance in their still-young union. They are participating in Sleep Out, a fundraising and awareness initiative in support of Covenant House Vancouver. The organization provides shelter and outreach to homeless and at-risk youth.

Sleep Out is an annual event, and this year it takes place in 16 cities across North America. Bristowe promoted her participation on her Instagram page and asked those willing and able to contribute funds to the cause.

“On Nov 19th, Shawn and I will be sleeping outside with nothing but a sleeping bag, and a piece of cardboard to get a glimpse of what it’s like to sleep on the street. Every dollar will go towards funding the crisis program at Covenant House Vancouver. Let’s help get our youth off the street. To donate click link in my bio.”

Krista Thompson, executive director of Covenant House Vancouver, wrote in a Vancouver Sun editorial that the Sleep Out event is moving for the participants.

“[N]othing prepares you for the range of emotions you experience when you sleep outside in November.”

She then asked readers to consider youth who end up on the street because they have no home or they believe that the streets are safer than their homes.

On Sleep Out’s participants page, Booth is listed as an “actor” and Bristowe as an “actress.” Booth’s bio says he is known for his hair and his Bachelorette participation. Both bios indicate their desire to give back and their commitment to doing good. They share a donation page.

When the two spoke to ET, they defended the dismal record of Bachelor and Bachelorette couples, arguing that many relationships don’t last, whether the couple meets online, in real life or on reality television. Still happily engaged, they hinted a televised Bachelorette wedding might be in their future.

“We’ve talked about it and it seems like it would be fun. I think if we did that we would probably have a little intimate wedding after.”

ET revealed Bristowe has been hitting up Pinterest for wedding inspiration. If the two do have a televised wedding, they will follow in the footsteps of season 7 Bachelorette Ashley Hebert, who married the winner of her season, J.P. Rosenbaum, in an televised special. Season 17 Bachelor Sean Lowe also married Catherine Guidici on-air. As Hello Magazine reported this summer, Hebert and Guidici are two of the few Bachelor franchise couples to stick it out.

Chris Soules, who chose Whitney Bischoff over Bristowe, broke up with his season’s winner shortly after his elimination from Dancing With the Stars. In the usual game of Bachelor/Bachelorette musical chairs, one of Bristowe’s rejected suitors, Ben Higgins, is set to be the next Bachelor. She told ET she wishes him well.

“He’s such a great guy. He’s just a good person. He’s younger but he’s also very mature and ready.”
