Lady Gaga Continues To Get Mocked For ‘American Horror Story’

There is some good news for American Horror Story this week. Although previous weeks saw the show take a steep fall in ratings, this week’s episode avoided the downward trend. Headline Planet has the news.

“Episode 7 of FX’s ‘American Horror Story: Hotel’ enjoyed a very slight increase in adults 18-49 and held steady in viewership. For the first time since the premiere, an ‘American Horror Story: Hotel’ avoided live+same-day declines.”

This will certainly provide some relief for the show’s co-creator, Ryan Murphy. However, the lastest episode of AHS has received mixed reviews.” The New York Times wasn’t enthusiastic about the seventh episode, titled “Flickers.”

“Again, ‘Hotel’ is circling an interesting idea — what is fame if not a battle against morality? — but dig too deep, and everything falls apart.”

The review goes on to note the confusion of Lady Gaga’s character, The Countess. But other media outlets did like the latest episode.

“Luckily it’s the first surprise in an episode that – aside from a quick visit to one of John Lowe’s languid, boring therapy sessions – is packed full of shocks, revelations and subtle callbacks as we finally learn The Countess’s origin,” Digital Spy says, referring to the gory cold opening.

Although Lady Gaga wants to be taken seriously as an actress, let’s hope she doesn’t put American Horror Story on her resume as the reviews for her “acting” have been mixed to downright awful. IGN describes how most people feel about Lady Gaga’s addition to American Horror Story.

“Gaga’s portrayal of the Countess hasn’t exactly been a boon for this season. Headlines were written when she as cast, and she certainly holds name value, but the macabre majesty of that character tends to vanish whenever she opens her mouth.”

Twitter continues to be cruel to Lady Gaga’s latest career change.

However, no matter how bad of an actress people think Lady Gaga is, her stint on American Horror Story has apparently helped her overcome depression and anxiety. Metro has the news.

“‘I’m an actress now and that helps a lot,’ the musician admitted. ‘I’ve tried to get off [my medication], but my doctor always tells me not to, that it’s not safe for me.’ However, the Bad Romance singer revealed that ‘there is something about acting that has really helped’.”

Trying to become an actress after a successful pop career (minus ARTPOP, which is still more successful than most “flops” by other artists) is a tough task, and one has to give Lady Gaga credit for trying. Barbara Streisand is the ultimate singer-turned-actress, but others aren’t as successful. Mariah Carey has been brutalized as an actress for her role in the movie Glitter, and her upcoming Christmas movie has been called a disaster before anybody has even seen it.

Although Lady Gaga is often compared to Madonna, she may not want to follow the Queen of Pop’s acting career trajectory. Madonna has won a Golden Globe for her performance in Evita, but her panned performances from such films as Swept Away and The Next Best Thing are more remembered by the public. Perhaps American Horror Story is just the beginning and Lady Gaga will become a huge and respected actress in the future.
