Earlier on in the month, Origin boss David DeMartini said that while EA’s digital distribution service would have a few sales here and there, consumers shouldn’t expect to see any “deep discount” sales like we’ve seen from Origin’s competitor, Steam.

Apparently, EA has decided to make an exception.

As of right now, a total of eighteen games are on sale for customers in the United Kingdom, with many games being offered at £5 a pop. The discount ranges from 37.5 percent to 50 percent and even up to a whopping 87.5 percent for Dragon Age: Origins.

In an interview earlier this month, DeMartini told GamesIndustry International that while he understands Steam’s philosophy behind offering games at obscenely low prices, he didn’t feel that was the way to go with Origin.

“We won’t be doing that. Obviously [Steam] thinks it’s the right thing to do after a certain amount of time,” he said. “I just think it cheapens your intellectual property. I know both sides of it, I understand it. If you want to sell a whole bunch of units, that is certainly a way to do that, to sell a whole bunch of stuff at a low price.”
