Scheana Marie ‘Vanderpump Rules’ Update: Mike Shay Drug Use, Divorce Rumors Silenced?

Scheana Marie and her husband, Mike Shay, appeared to be on the verge of divorce in the Season 4 trailer for Vanderpump Rules. However, according to new photos of the pair on social media, the latest of which was shared by Shay on November 16, the couple is doing much better just weeks after filming on season four wrapped.

As their marital drama continues to play out on the Bravo reality show, Scheana Marie spoke out during a new interview, revealing why she chose to disclose such a private issue with her many fans on the show,

“I don’t like to live with regrets,” Scheana told Entertainment Tonight Online on November 16. “I like to live and learn. And one of the things, I think, about our show is how real it is. It’s unscripted. We’re a group of friends who love each other, can’t stand each other, and same with Shay. You know, we’re not always perfect.”

During the second season of Vanderpump Rules, Shay asked Scheana Marie to marry him, and during the following season, which aired earlier this year, Scheana Marie and Shay tied the knot. During Scheana Marie’s wedding episode, she was joined by a number of her co-stars, including Lisa Vanderpump, Ariana Madix, Katie Maloney, and Tom Schwartz, all of whom she remains extremely close to.

During Monday night’s episode of the show, Scheana Marie spoke to a few of her co-stars about what she and Shay were going through behind closed doors. While chatting with Maloney in the bathroom of SUR Lounge, Scheana Marie revealed her husband had been drinking a lot, and hadn’t come home for days. Then, during a conversation with her boss, Vanderpump, also at the restaurant, Scheana Marie revealed Shay was taking up to five Vicodin pills per day and often mixing them with wine.

Looking back on the shocking episode, Scheana Marie admitted to feeling a tinge of regret after being so candid about her husband’s substance abuse, as well as their marital troubles. She also revealed her husband wasn’t thrilled with her speaking of his personal struggles.

“It is difficult. You know, he’s like, ‘Why would you do this to me? Why would you tell everyone?’ And I’m like, ‘I don’t know! I didn’t mean to. And you weren’t here, and I was sad, and I was lonely, and I was like, but maybe he’s doing this again.’ And once I said that, I’m like, ‘Take it back, take it back.’ Like, rewind, rewind. But there’s no, like, DVR rewind button in life.”

While Scheana Marie and her husband experienced troubles off-screen, which took place between Seasons 3 and 4, she thought she and Shay had gotten to a better place before production began earlier this year. Unfortunately, however, Scheana Marie thought wrong, and a while before filming got underway, she and Shay began to struggle once again.

Throughout filming, Scheana Marie and Shay struggled to get on the same page. While Scheana Marie wanted her husband to be okay, and wanted him to come home, Shay was feeling alone, and stayed with his parents at times.

As Scheana Marie’s interview with Entertainment Tonight Online continued, the reality star claimed her husband was doing “absolutely amazing,” and said the same went for their marriage.

“Addiction is something that’s so relatable,” Scheana Marie continued. “It’s a struggle that so many millions of people deal with, so I just hope that, by telling our story, and showing people how real this is, then — if we can just help one person then, you know, my job’s done.”
