Zayn Malik Talks Larry Stylinson, Perrie Edwards Breakup Rumors: What’s The Real Story Behind Larry And Perrie?

Now that Zayn Malik is free of 1D, it looks like he’s willing to speak a little more openly about his time with the boy band and even his personal life. Zayn recently opened up about the effect that fan creation Larry Stylinson had on One Direction, and he also shot down a rumor about his split from Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards.

As Gossip Cop reports, Larry Stylinson and Perrie Edwards were just two of the topics Zayn Malik discussed during his very lengthy interview with Fader. The singer is promoting his new single “Befour” and his upcoming album, and talking about his time with the world’s biggest boy band is an excellent way to get everyone talking about his solo career. One hot topic Zayn discussed was Directioners’ habit of “shipping” members of One Direction with one another, or imagining that members of the band are involved in secret gay relationships. Some fans simply like to pretend that certain One Direction members are coupled up, but others truly believe that members of 1D are dating one another and hiding their relationship from the world.

The most famous coupling is “Larry Stylinson,” the name that fans have given the imagined gay relationship between Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson. As the Inquisitr previously reported, Larry shippers freaked out back in August after a fan convinced Louis and Harry to hold hands at a meeting arranged by the Make-A-Wish-Foundation. Some Larry Stylinson shippers think that any physical contact or eye contact between Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson is “evidence” of their secret love, and Zayn Malik revealed that obsessive fans’ freakouts over “Larry moments” made things awkward between Louis and Harry.

“There’s no secret relationships going on with any of the band members,” Zayn Malik revealed. “It’s not funny, and it still continues to be quite hard for them. They won’t naturally go put their arm around each other because they’re conscious of this thing that’s going on, which is not even true. They won’t do that natural behavior.”

The Larry Stylinson rumor isn’t the only one that Zayn Malik denied during his Fader interview. The “Befour” singer also responded to an August report by the Sun claiming that he dumped former fiancée Perrie Edwards via text message. Perrie Edwards seemed pretty blindsided by Zayn Malik’s decision to dump her, with a source telling People that the Little Mix star was “devastated” and “in pieces” over the demise of their relationship. Perrie and Zayn got engaged in August 2013, and Zayn claims that he would never disrespect his longtime love by ending their engagement via text. However, the singer is still refusing to explain why he decided to dump Perrie Edwards so suddenly.

“I have more respect for Perrie than to end anything over text message,” Zayn said.

“I love her a lot, and I always will, and I would never end our relationship over four years like that. She knows that, I know that, and the public should know that as well. I don’t want to explain why or what I did, I just want the public to know I didn’t do that.”

During the Fader interview, Zayn Malik couldn’t resist slightly dissing his old band’s music brand. He revealed that One Direction songs are not the type of music that he would listen to at a party with his girl, so now he’s aiming to make the type of “cool sh**” that he would play to impress a lover. And even though Zayn Malik wouldn’t have the ability to make whatever kind of music he wants now without the success he experienced as a member of One Direction, he seemingly regrets stifling his creativity by spending four years of his life with the group. In fact, he told Fader that he “wanted to go home from the beginning” after the band was formed on The X Factor.

Zayn Malik also revealed that he wasn’t very passionate about pursuing his music career before his time with One Direction turned him into a superstar. He admits that he was a “lazy teen,” and he only auditioned for The X Factor because his mom told him to. According to Zayn, he feels like he “owed it to her.”

Zayn Malik claims that one of the main reasons he left One Direction was so that he could make exactly the kind of music he wants to make, not music that’s aimed at pleasing a specific group of people (teen girls). He also claims that he doesn’t care if he has a smaller audience now that he’s no longer a member of 1D. However, he hinted that he’s still very interested in being a commercial success by revealing that he’ll let the reaction to his first solo album influence what he does in the future. Zayn says that his album, which is set to drop early next year, will be a mixture of many music genres. He’s going to see what listeners have the most positive reaction to, and he’ll feature more of that musical style on his second album.

It sounds like Zayn Malik isn’t interested in a One Direction reunion right now, but fans of the Bradford boy might get to see him reunite with one member of the group in the future. According to Zayn, he and Liam Payne have talked about working on music together. Liam will have plenty of time to catch up with his former bandmate once One Direction’s big break starts early next year.

Do you think Zayn Malik will ever perform with One Direction again, or does it sound like he’ll never look back after he experiences success as a solo artist?
