‘Hunger Games’ Cast Cancels Red Carpet Interviews After Paris Attacks

The cast of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 have decided to cancel red carpet interviews in the wake of the Paris attacks. The Lionsgate film, which was filmed partly in France, decided, out of respect, to not conduct any red carpet interviews ahead of its premiere in Los Angeles.

According to a rep from Lionsgate:

“Out of respect for the very recent events in Paris, we have decided to modify our red carpet and we will not conduct interviews at Monday’s Mockingjay 2 premiere. We will proceed with the rest of the event as planned in honor of the incredible fans who have always supported our films with such passion.”

As the Inquisitr reported, after six simultaneous attacks in Paris, 129 people have been killed, with the number of those injured growing. Hours after the series of attacks, ISIS released a statement announcing that they were responsible for the attacks on Paris, and stated that this is only the beginning. They went on to say that Paris is their main target, but not their only target.

They referred to Paris as a city of “crusaders” in addition to “prostitution and vice.”

The attacks happened at a soccer match in Stade de France stadium during a match between Germany and France, the Bataclan theatre, and other areas of Paris.

The statement, which was translated via Twitter, went on to say:

“Let France and all nations following its path know that they will continue to be at the top of the target list for the Islamic State and that the scent of death will not leave their nostrils as long as they partake in the crusader campaign, as long as they dare to curse our Prophet (blessings and peace be upon him), and as long as they boast about their war against Islam in France and their strikes against Muslims in the lands of the Caliphate with their jets, which were of no avail to them in the filthy streets and alleys of Paris.”

As for the Hunger Games cast they have been promoting the last film of the franchise all over the world, which took them to Beijing, Madrid, Paris, and London. As the Inquisitr reported, the highlight of the press tour prior to the attacks was star Jennifer Lawrence falling over at the Madrid premiere. Not only did she fall but she struggled to get up. Perhaps it was due to those pesky heels actresses are automatically expected to wear on the red carpet? From the video, it looks like her flowing dress is caught on her shoe.

Of course, Lawrence has a habit of taking a few spills at events. During the 2013 Academy Awards, she fell going up the stairs in her Dior dress while collecting her first Academy Award for her role in Silver Linings Playbook. Then, she tripped on a separate occasion as she climbed out of her limo to the red carpet at the 2014 Academy Awards.

The Hunger Games cast isn’t the only form of entertainment to cancel in the wake of the Paris attacks. The Foo Fighters canceled their European tour after the attacks, as did the band U2, which were scheduled to perform in Paris. At the time U2’s Bono explained the decision.

“If you think about it, the majority of victims last night are music fans. This is the first direct hit on music that we’ve had in this so-called War on Terror, or whatever it’s called.”
