Rousey and Holm have already built up the anticipation, with a pre-fight weigh-in that turned physical. With UFC cameras watching, the two bantamweights nearly came to blows after Holm shoved her arm above Rousey’s, leading league president Dana White to intervene.

The lead-up to the fight has been filled with drama for Rousey, whose mother publicly criticized her trainer, Edmond Tarverdyan. Rousey was also the subject of allegations from her ex-boyfriend about an altercation, the Los Angeles Times noted.
But Rousey said that the distractions “make me happy I have fighting. I’m happy to go inside the gym, instead of sitting on the couch.”
“The crazier things are — the more chaotic — this is what I do to fix myself. Fighting is my sanctuary,” she added.
Fans who watch UFC 193 live online will see a bit of a different approach from Rousey. Tarverdyan said Holm will likely fight from a distance to avoid being taken down by Rousey, which prompted Rousey to refine her jabs and hooks.
“I hope [Holm] does box. Ronda can box. She has knockout punching power in both hands,” Tarverdyan said. “She proved that last fight. If Holly boxes with us, Ronda can show her skill. Regardless of how much [Holm] runs, we know she can’t hide.”
While almost all of the attention may be on the Ronda Rousey vs. Holly Holm fight, Kotaku notes that it may not even be the best women’s fight of the night. Joanna “Champion” Jedrzejczyk, the UFC’s strawweight (115 lb) champion, is putting her undefeated record on the line against Valerie Letourneau.
“I’m excited to see how Jedrzejczyk and her still-nascent division evolve,” Kotaku writer Nathan Grayson noted. “She has the potential to be a big star, with her crowd-pleasing fighting style and unique sense of humor. She’s just gotta break through. On the flipside, if she falters here—against an opponent she’s really, really supposed to beat—I doubt there’ll be much air left in her balloon. For Jedrzejczyk, this weekend is do or die. Time to see if she has what it takes.”
