One Direction’s Niall Horan Shuns Reality TV, Denies Justin Bieber Battle

One Direction star, Niall Horan, and his band-mates will shortly be heading on an extended break. As everyone must know by now Horan and his pals released the fifth One Direction album, titled Made In The A.M., yesterday. This means that Niall and the rest of One Direction have had just a few days rest since the conclusion of their fourth massive tour in as many years. No one can argue that Horan, and everyone else involved in One Direction, deserve a break after a schedule that has been relentless for the past five years.

Once the round of promotional appearances for the new album is complete, Horan and his mates are set for an extended hiatus. Niall seems to be going into the break with an open mind. Horan has said he wants to use One Direction’s break to write songs, relax, and travel to places he has been to but never seen.

It’s likely that Niall, and the rest of One Direction, will have plenty of offers coming their way. It seems that the media never tires of One Direction stories, so they are always going to be a major draw.

Getting Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson or Liam Payne involved in a reality TV show would be a major coup. It seems that Tomlinson will be appearing as a judge on the next season of Simon Cowell’s X-Factor, but according to the Mirror, Horan has no intention of following in his footsteps.

The Mirror reports that Niall has told the Irish Times that he is definitely not getting involved in X-Factor, Strictly Come Dancing, or I’m A Celebrity: Get Me Out Of Here. Niall explained that he can’t dance or ice-skate, and isn’t opinionated enough for X-Factor.

“I don’t think I’d be suited to X Factor – I’m not opinionated enough.”

“Strictly? I can’t dance. I can’t ice-skate and I’m not going in the jungle. So no.”

Even if he has shunned reality TV, it doesn’t look like Niall will be idle for long. There are rumors that Horan wants to release solo material, and it seems like other stars are lining up to work with the Irish heart-throb.

According to the Belfast Telegraph, British singer Ellie Goulding has already lined up writing sessions with Niall.

“I’m going to write with [Horan], he’s a really good guitarist and he’s funny, cheeky, really cool. He’s been my friend for quite a few years so I’m really up for it.”

Fans of One Direction and Justin Bieber will be well aware that both released their new albums yesterday. Some weeks ago, it was reported that Bieber was angry when it was announced that One Directions album would drop on the same day as his own. Fans will be intrigued to find out which of the albums makes the No. 1 spot, but, according to the Daily Mail, Horan is playing down any kind of battle between One Direction and Bieber. The Mail claims that Horan told Digital Spy that going head to head with Bieber is no big deal.

“We’ve released albums on the same day as Rihanna and stuff like that, but it just happens to be – on the internet – made into a big deal that it’s Bieber. But it’s fine – he’s got good tunes, we’ve got good tunes, and we don’t really see it as who’s going to win.”

“If anything it’s good for pop culture that something like this is going to happen. There’s no fighting involved at all.”

Do you think Niall Horan will forge a successful solo career? Who do you think will top the album chart Justin Bieber or Niall Horan and One Direction?
