One Direction Will Perform On ‘X Factor UK’ This Monday Alongside Jess Glynne

One Direction will perform alongside Jess Glynne on The X Factor UK next Monday, November 16, according to a press release from the network.

One Direction — minus Zayn Malik — are no strangers to X Factor UK. The band got their start on the show in 2010, coming together during the “boot camp” phase of the competition. They made it to the show finale, but only managed to finish in third place. However, it seems like a third-place finish didn’t spell doom for their career. Since X Factor, Harry, Liam, Niall, and Louis have gone on to sell 65 million records and appear on stage before over 7 million fans.

“The boys are no strangers to big venues – last year the ‘Where We Are’ tour saw performances in stadiums worldwide including South America, Europe, UK and North America. In February 2015, 1D embarked their ‘On The Road Again’ which kicked off in Australia before heading to Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Indonesia, South Africa and Dubai, continuing into Europe, North America and finishing up in the UK and Ireland in October.”

One Direction’s latest album, Made in the AM, dropped Friday, and hopefully the Friday the 13th release date won’t be unlucky for the band.

One Direction fans will need to get their fix of the boys as many times as they can between now and March 2016, however, as the boys have announced that they’re going on hiatus at the end of their next tour, so the remaining four band members can pursue their solo careers, according to The Mirror. OneD fans need not despair just yet, though — the band has left open the possibility of reuniting after the hiatus, which is expected to last at least 12 months.

Joining One Direction on The X Factor UK Monday will be solo artist Jess Glynne, the British pop star who has been hanging out at the X Factor UK Judges’ House with Cheryl Fernandez-Versini.

“Jess Glynne has repeatedly topped the charts thanks to a string of hit collaborations including ‘My Love’ with house producer Route 94, ‘Real Love’ and ‘Rather Be’ with classical-dance quartet Clean Bandit and ‘Not Letting go’ with rapper Tinie Tempah. Her upbeat single ‘Hold My Hand’ was the sound of the summer and her debut album ‘I Cry When I laugh’ is bursting with catchy tracks that showcase her incredible vocal talent.”

Unlike its U.K. counterpart, The X Factor failed to catch on with American audiences, and the U.S. version lasted three seasons. Despite having big-name judges, including Simon Cowell himself, along with Demi Lovato, Britney Spears, and Paula Abdul, among others, the show was a ratings failure and was cancelled in 2013. None of the show’s finalists, or winners, have gone on to become huge stars.

The X Factor UK, however, remains huge in Britain — the show is now its 12th season, and shows no signs of letting up. Some big names in show business, both on this side of the Atlantic and the other, have appeared as judges, including Sharon Osbourne, Kelly Rowland, Nicole Scherzinger, and Mel B, to name a few. Some of the show’s finalists, including One Direction and Little Mix, have gone on to hugely successful careers.

As of this post, nine finalists remain in the current season: Che Chesterman, Mason Noise, Louisa Johnson, Monica Michael, Lauren Murray, Anton Stephans, Max Stone, 4th Impact, and Reggie ‘n Bollie.

One Direction and Jess Glynne can be seen on stage together on X Factor UK on Monday, November 16 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time on AXS TV.
