YouTube Star Caleb Logan Bratayley’s Cause Of Death Revealed

The death of 13-year-old YouTube star Caleb Logan Bratayley was blamed on natural causes when the famous YouTube family announced his death. Now the results from the young star’s autopsy are in, and it’s said that cause of death was from an undetected heart problem.

The 13-year-old’s life was cut short back in October, due to a heart condition called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. It’s said the condition went undetected, and during Caleb’s last check up, there were no signs that a defect was lingering. The Bratayleys decided to announce the cause of death in an Instagram post.

The Instagram post reads as follows.

“The doctor confirmed today that Caleb passed away from a heart condition called Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy that went undetected in his yearly checkups. Caleb didn’t have any symptoms so the doctor said there was nothing we could have done differently.

“The girls’ hearts were just recently checked and thankfully look the way they should right now. The sadness of losing someone you love is unimaginable. Thank you to everyone who has reached out, your kindness and support continues to help our family. We miss our baked potato everyday. #calebratelife #celebratelife”

Prior to the cause of death revealed, many were wondering about the mystery surrounding a seemingly healthy boy’s death being due to natural causes. Some had guessed it might be due to a brain aneurysm and others said it might be a heart defect.

Aside from the shock of Caleb’s sudden death, the family was met with criticism when they decided to take documenting their lives to the next level: by broadcasting a digital memorial on the popular real-time app Periscope (and Facebook) so fans could mourn the loss of Caleb. At the time, the family still didn’t have any answers for the teen’s passing other than he died of natural causes.

When they announced that they would be hosting a digital memorial for the family’s fans, they said, “We’ll have more definitive answers in the coming weeks but ask that you help us celebrate his life instead of focus on his death. Due to an outpouring of support and people’s hope to be part of his memorial, we have decided to live-stream the ceremony tomorrow at 8pm EDT…Thank you for all your kindness during this difficult time.”

Although the family received some backlash about the public memorial service, as the Inquisitr reported, thousands of people tuned into the service to remember the life of Caleb Logan Bratayley.

The Facebook memorial post was viewed 300,000 in 16 hours of going live. Throughout the memorial service, video highlights were showed to fans and mourners alike.

Some fans questioned whether or not the Bratayleys would continue to share their lives in the wake of Caleb’s death, but just a day after the news hit the web, the family decided to release a video that was filmed the day before he died. Since then, the family has been filmed in their day-to-day lives just like before. In a recent video, the family said that they will continue to mourn Caleb but will make videos for now as they intended to honor his life.

The channel on YouTube started two years ago, with its main focus on the kids, Caleb, Hayley, and Annie. Since they started, they’ve had over one billion views and almost two million subscribers.

The wholesome family boasts in one of their first videos, “Just watch one video and you’ll be hooked.”
