A rare Beatles poster taken from the walls of Liverpool’s Cavern Club has been sold at a London auction for £27,500 ($44,000). Their museums may not be pulling in punters, but Beatles memorabilia continues to command eye-watering prices.

The poster, a simple design with colorful writing on a black background, advertises a 1962 show at the Cavern, where new and upcoming band The Beatles would perform a set either side of a performance by The Dakotas (a band who are still going, incidentally!)

The lunchtime concert took place on November 30, 1962. Auction house Christies said that makes it the earliest Beatles poster the house had ever been offered. The official listing reads:

“This is the only known copy of this poster. Posters from this period in the Beatles’ history are exceptionally rare and only a handful of posters documenting their appearances at the Cavern Club are known to be in existence.”

It’s already known that The Beatles gave their first lunchtime performance at the Cavern Club on February 9, 1961. Records show they played gigs at the club 292 times before their last show there on August 3, 1963.

Last year, a handwritten letter by Paul McCartney auditioning for a new Beatles drummer fetched £35,000 at auction.
