Miley Cyrus Gets Naked, Is Labeled ‘Trailblazer’
Miley Cyrus certainly isn’t shy about stripping down to her nothings and baring it for the world to see. Some might even say she’s made a career of doing precisely that since she turned 18. So what’s so special about Miley dropping trou (and everything else) this time around? E! is reporting that the junior Cyrus has decided to let the world see what her mama gave her as part of V Magazine’s “Diary of a Dirty Hippie” edition.
The photo that caused the naked stir features Miley Cyrus wearing nothing but a grin, backstage at the 2015 VMA’s, her hair cornrowed and fabulous and exuding the lack of self-consciousness you’d expect from a newborn baby. So, essentially just being herself.
The column, which is written by a drag queen who participated in one of Cyrus’ performances at the VMAs, has nothing but wonderful things to say about Miley. Laganja Estranja has recounted his experience with the young performer, former child-star, and recent philanthropist in the LGBT community, calling her a “trailblazer.”
“Miley told me she wanted to get all these queens together…the last time I was in a place with that many drag queens I FELT VERY ATTACKED, but this was so different because it came from a place of love and being one with the universe. We all danced as a group for the first time and it was SICKENING.”
Estranja went on to praise Miley Cyrus for using her platform as a celebrity to bring attention and positive change to the struggles faced by the LGBT, particularly transgenders. Miley has famously and consistently demanded equality for the LGBT community in the U.S., often staging outrageous and even outlandish stunts to draw attention to discrimination and violence against those who identify as LGBT. He added that he hopes, through the efforts of Miley Cyrus and others like her, the LGBT community can go from “underground subset” to having a “place in the sun.”
Miley Cyrus has been extremely outspoken and unapologetic about her support for the LGBT community, becoming very active both financially and socially with the “Happy Hippie Foundation” over the past year. The nonprofit organization, with help from Cyrus and others like her, helps both LGBT and homeless youth fight and overcome the social injustices they so often face, often with no recourse or resources. Miley Cyrus also won this year’s Vanguard Award.
While Miley was being honored at the Vanguard Awards, she didn’t leave her outrageous streak at the gala doors. Rather, she decided to use the spotlight to be just as crazy as she’s expected to be. Yahoo News reported that Miley Cyrus busted out her famous (and infamous) tongue — but kept her clothes on.
This time around, as has not been the case much in the past, Miley was licking for a good cause. Charity, in fact. What did she lick? A beautiful white piano, slated for charity auction, that had been signed by an array of celebrities. The piano was donated by a good friend of Miley Cyrus, Linda Perry, who was auctioning it off to raise money for LGBT causes. Perry instructed Cyrus to “lick it” so it would bring in more money.
Even though Miley has created an adult image for herself that is completely at odds with her childhood persona, she seems to keep her heart in the right place amid all of her highly publicized antics. So she took it all off again? So what? The odds are pretty good that this isn’t the last time Miley Cyrus will flaunt her nudity, or be labeled a “trailblazer.”
