Andrew Garfield Talks Emma Stone, Favorite Spider-Man Villains [Video]

Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy’s romance on the big screen in The Amazing Spider-Man led to an off-screen romance between Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone.

Garfield, who plays Parker in the new movie, said that he first fell for Stone, who plays Stacy, during their first screen tests in 2011.

Garfield said:

“We got on really well as people, in between [takes]… That was the fun stuff: In between, we’d just mess around, and I felt, ‘Ah, this is different.’ I wasn’t really aware what was happening in the screen test. She keeps you on your toes, and that wakes you up. That was the beginning.”

On The Red Carpet reports that Garfield and Stone have been romantically linked since June, 2011, and both actors were able to use their blossoming love to portray more convincing characters on the big screen.

Garfield said:

“Obviously I was so happy that she got the role and decided to do it… Those are the days (when Stone was on the set) I’d look forward to, you know? For Peter as well, because Peter goes through some horrible stuff in the movie. There’s some joy to be had when experiencing his first love.”

Spider-Man has already fought Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, Sandman and Venom on the big screen and in The Amazing Spider-Man, Peter Parker squares off against the Lizard, a scaly creature created from an experiment gone wrong.

Garfield said:

“I love all of them. I like Elektro, he’s one of the ones I’m very into… I really like the [Green] Goblin, obviously, and I love Doc Ock. I think I like Doc Ock especially because of what Alfred Molina did [with the character in ‘Spider-Man 2’]. I don’t know; he made that so memorable and kind of profound, somehow.”
