Gigi Hadid Free And Single Again Sans Joe Jonas

Gigi Hadid has split up with Joe Jonas while her career gets a boost from her inclusion in Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on December 8, 2015. Her breakup with the former Jonas Brothers member just before his concert Wednesday, November 4, seemed to be the reason for his emotional performance that night.

According to Hollywood Life, Gigi Hadid, 20, has gone through more than two years of relationships, first with Australian singer-songwriter Cody Simpson, 18, beginning in the summer of 2013, then with American pop rock idol Joe Jonas, 26, in 2015. Now that she and Jonas have parted ways, Gigi is suddenly left with all that free time to herself.

MTV reports that after five months of intimacy, Hadid and Jonas were calling it quits over a matter of conflicting schedules, but they still remain friends. They first became close in a New York City bar in June and were seen together in numerous media events, culminating with their red carpet debut as a couple at the Global Lyme Alliance Inaugural Gala in New York on October 8.

With Jonas out of the picture, Cody Simpson has reportedly been positioning himself for a comeback, but the Victoria’s Secret model is not similarly disposed. According to E! Online, Gigi wants to remain single for a while, focusing on her career and enjoying her new-found freedom. They talk, are on friendly terms, but are not getting back together any time soon.

It was just on October 29 that Victoria’s Secret offered Maybelline spokeswoman Hadid a spot in the 2015 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show airing December 8 on CBS. Gigi was walking the runway for an audition when Victoria’s Secret Chief Marketing Officer Ed Razek gave her the good news. Hadid buckled at the knees and burst into tears, providing a rare spectacle for YouTube release.

The Victoria’s Secret model has steadfastly worked toward her dream despite stressors at home. For over three years, Gigi’s mother Yolanda Foster, 51; younger sister Bella, 18; and youngest sibling Anwar, 16, have been battling Lyme disease. Though the disease is not genetic, members of the same family could suffer from it, because they share the same environment. If this condition affects one member of the family, other members can also be affected because they eat the same foods and experience similar pressures. Symptoms are brain fog, headaches, muscle and joint pain, tingling and numbness, neck pain, palpitations, and anxiety or panic attacks.

Hadid’s mother is a Dutch-born reality TV star and model, formerly Yolanda van den Herik, until she married Mohamed Hadid, a California real estate developer, and moved with him to Los Angeles to start a family. They divorced in 2000, and she relocated to Montecito with her children, Gigi, Bella, and Anwar, to run a home-based interior design business. She married celebrity musician David Foster in Beverly Hills in 2011.

Diagnosed with Lyme disease in 2012, Yolanda Foster reportedly lost her ability to read, write, and watch television.

With Joe Jonas prior to their breakup, Gigi attended the Global Lyme Alliance Inaugural Gala in New York on October 8 to support her family there. Other celebrity Lyme-disease sufferers present were music executive Tony Mottola’s wife, Mexican singer Thalia, and fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger’s daughter Ally. Hadid gave the following statement about her mother’s ordeal.

“For a full year I watched my mom struggle. She was diagnosed with many things—depression, chronic fatigue…and was diagnosed with Lyme disease after appearing in her first season of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.”

Now free of romantic ties and keeping her family woes in perspective, Gigi Hadid boxes to keep fit at the Gotham Gym in New York City. The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is the break she needs to become a supermodel, and Gigi Hadid seems determined to prevail.
