Only In Texas: Police Call Female Gator Wrangler To Texas Strip Mall To Capture 900-Pound Alligator, Home Depot Helps

The Sugar Land police department, a professional female alligator wrangler, and Home Depot workers banned together to take care of a large alligator problem at a Texas strip mall. Employees of the strip mall located in the Sugar Land, Texas, suburb came to work to discover a 12-foot alligator behind the building. The police were called to the scene but they are only authorized to move creatures six-feet-long and under. Therefore, they called for the help of professional gator wrangler named Christy Kroboth. The gator girl struggled with the beast before eventually hog-tying him. However, the problems didn’t end there. The gator weighed so much that an employee from Home Depot was recruited to move the animal with one of the company’s fork lifts.

The Daily Mail reports that employees at a Sugar Land strip mall were shocked when they arrived to find a one-eyed alligator behind the business. The enormous alligator was 12-feet-long and weighed an astonishing 900 pounds. Therefore, the employees called the police for assistance removing the dangerous animal from the building. However, when the Sugar Land police arrived, they discovered that they would not be able to remove the gator on their own as they are only allowed to capture alligators that are six-feet-long or under.

Therefore, the police called Christy Kroboth for backup. Click 2 Houston obtained video of the ordeal as blonde Kroboth straddled the giant gator in the parking lot. The “Godzilla” gator, as they are referring to it in Houston, gave Christy a run for her money. The creature could be seen thrashing about as the woman attempted to hog-tie the beast. The Houston report claims that the gator was 12-and-a-half feet long but only 800 pounds, not 900 pounds as the Daily Mail reported. Regardless of the weight, what is for certain is that the alligator was large.

So large that the police department and Kroboth asked for help from Home Depot in moving the alligator to the truck for removal. It was noted that Christy works for the company Gator Grabbers in Texas and is used to wrangling alligators for a living. However, the Sugar Land strip mall alligator was so big it even caused problems for the professional wrangler. The woman allegedly received help from the nearby officer as she struggled to hold down the gator due to its extreme size.

“We tried to do a front catch with him where you hold jaws and get him taped. But he was so big his jaws were too big for my hands. I couldn’t get my hands to fit around his mouth. We tried several different attempts on how to catch him. Finally we thought we had him wore out enough to put two people on the back of him and kinda outweigh him which clearly did not work.”

Eventually after numerous failed attempts and an officer’s help, the gator was tied and his face was covered. It was estimated that the alligator was about 50-years-old and likely lived in the creek behind the strip mall. After placing the alligator in the back of the truck, it was moved to a nearby sanctuary where it would no longer be a threat to strip mall patrons.
