Britney Spears: ‘Working Hard’ On New Album, First Hit Song Title’s Meaning Revealed, Coming To Small Screens Everywhere
Britney Spears fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of the pop star’s latest album. The princess of pop has certainly been busy while performing for the nightly crowds in attendance at her Vegas Piece Of Me show while she continues her residency there.
Spears has dropped the odd hint that her latest album efforts will soon be available for her extensive fan-base to get their hands on. Most recently, Brit has teased, via social media, about the unveiling of her latest tracks, by posting subtle hints about her intentions to churn out the tracks for eager fans. Billboard shares in regards to Spears’ cryptic communications with fans about her latest album.
“[Britney] recently shared a captionless photo of herself in the studio and just last week revealed that she’d finished recording vocals on one song and shared the cryptic hashtag ‘B9.’ Whether ‘B9’ refers to her new album, time will tell.”

An additional tweet sent out by the talented performer and mother of two, involved a photo of herself and songwriters Justin Tranter and Julia Michaels. The trio is giving a comical look to the camera and are clearly enjoying their “working” time. Spears captioned the photo, “Working hard and hardly working…new album…wheeeee!”

Although no date has been announced in terms of a release, at least fans can rest assured that new music is certainly on the way. Brit’s last album dropped in 2013 and was titled Britney Jean. Billboard reminds that it reached number four on the charts.
As for other past notable tracks by Britney, who can forget her breakout smash single “Hit Me Baby One More Time”? That one track, along with the perfectly-choreographed video, rocketed Spears to fame. The title of the hit has long been interpreted as a sort of sexual and kinky innuendo. Recently, however, the actual intended meaning of the title for the hit song was revealed by the track’s lyricist. As Music Times notes “[t]he song’s hook has finally been properly debunked in John Seabrook’s latest book centered on pop music history, The Song Machine: Inside the Hit Factory.”
“Seabrook explains in the novel that the track’s writers, Sweden’s Max Martin and Rami Yacoub, thought that ‘hit’ was an American slang translation for ‘call.'”
So, as it turns out, the lyricists to the song never intended the hook and title to be taken in a sexual sense. The lyric is simply meant to coax a call out of a love interest.
If you can’t wait until Brit’s latest album drops to hear more from the pop star, tune in to CW on Monday to catch her guest-starring on the comedy Jane the Virgin. As USA Today shares, Spears will play herself in the sure-to-please episode.

Spears is no stranger to acting as she got her start as a child on The Mickey Mouse Club, starred in the 2002 movie Crossroads, and has since made several cameo appearances on various sitcoms. There is always consistency when it comes to Britney’s work. The songstress and entertainer is sure to please an audience, whether on the small screen or the Vegas stage.
