First look at Stargate Universe

The latest spin-off in the Stargate franchise, Stargate Universe started filming in February, and Sci-Fi has released the first teaser video for the series.

Lou Diamond Phillips (Colonel Telford) says in the promo that it’s “real stories and real people with real concerns”, that will be “sexier and grittier” than previous Stargate series. Ming-Na (Camille Wray) says “We have really dramatic turns with these characters and having audience really root for them and feel for them.” The series also stars Robert Caryle and Brain J. Smith.

A date hasn’t been set for the show’s premier, but is scheduled for the northern autumn (fall.)

    I hope to God this won't be like Battlestar Galactica which turned into a soap opera in the end.

    The rumors are this is going to be like “Stargate: Galactica”, which is probably OK with most people.

    I like both, each for different reasons, and combining them could be an unholy union of greatness.

    But as Mike said, if SGU falls into the soap opera trap… it's game over.

    Looks like a BSG ripoff as far as writing. Telford tries at Adama a little too much in his 3 seconds during the teaser. Maybe I'm biased :P
