One Direction Make Alton Towers Crash Victim Leah’s Dream Come True

One Direction fan Leah Washington was seriously injured in the Alton Towers rollercoaster crash back in June. As was reported in Inquisitr, 17-year-old Leah was unable to attend a One Direction show at Wembley after she was injured in an horrific Roller-Coaster accident. Leah and her friends were riding at the front of a car that smashed into a stationary car. Five people were seriously injured and One Direction fan Leah, who was on a first date with a new boyfriend, had to have her left leg amputated as a result of her injuries.

As the Express reports, victims of the crash were trapped for up to four-and-a-half hours before they could be freed by firefighters and paramedics. One of Leah’s friends took to Twitter to reveal Leah’s plight to a number of One Direction fan accounts. The message asked for One Direction to make contact with Leah as it would “aid her recovery.”

Leah’s plight came to the attention of One Direction star Louis Tomlinson. As is widely known, Louis and the rest of One Direction are widely involved in charity work, and Louis has a real passion for children’s charities. As a result, Louis reached out to Leah on behalf of One Direction to wish her well. Leah lives in South Yorkshire, close to where One Direction star Louis grew up.

Whilst One Direction were out on their “On The Road Again” tour, they sent a video message to Leah and asked to meet up with her when they had fewer commitments. They also invited Leah to come along to a One Direction show of her choice. The Mirror reports that last weekend One Direction made good on their promise to Leah when they played the final shows of their latest tour in Sheffield. Despite gearing up for the final shows before their extended hiatus One Direction invited Leah and her friends along to all of the Sheffield shows. All of the One Direction boys took time out to meet with a thrilled Leah and her friends and family.

A clearly thrilled Leah took to social media sites Twitter and Instagram to share photographs of herself with One Direction.

You have to admire One Direction for the efforts they go to when it comes to their charitable work and their support for their young fans. That said, Leah Washington has proven time and again that she too is a class act. Leah has appeared on British TV to talk about her awful experiences, and her stoicism and courage have been an inspiration to many. Leah also used to Twitter to ensure that she publicly thanked One Direction star Louis Tomlinson’s mom, Johannah Deakin.

It was Johannah who noticed the campaign to bring Leah’s plight to the attention of One Direction and she made Louis aware. One Direction should be praised for making time for their fans in this way and for their charitable efforts on behalf of a wide range of causes. As all One Direction fans are aware, the band’s fifth album, Made In The A.M, is due for release next week, and once the promotional round for the album is complete, One Direction are going their separate ways, at least for the time being.

The final concerts of the tour were hugely emotional for the One Direction boys. The fact that they still found time to make a teenager’s dreams come true speaks volumes and perhaps explains why One Direction are so adored by their millions of fans.
