Stephen Colbert to Sweden: Give Me Your Twitter Account [Video]

We reported some sad news several months ago, it turns out Stephen Colbert jumped into the US Presidential race a little too late to make an impact, but have no fear because now he’s going after Sweden.

The Comedy Central host announced on Tuesday night that we would like to take over the @Sweden official Twitter account.

In his plea Colbert points out that @Sweden only has 35,000 followers while his own Twitter account is far more active with 3.5 million followers.

Colbert says he needs to take over the Twitter account after Swedish citizen Sonja Abrahamsson took over the account for a week and made headlines with a rather ignorant comment directed as Jews along with some other strange musings that likely didn’t win the country any Twitter followers.

Ultimately the decision will be up to VisitSweden who came up with the crazy idea of handing the countries Twitter account over to citizens for seven-day periods.

If the country needs proof that anything Stephen Colbert touches turns to gold they should check out his already popular campaign known as #artificialswedener.

If Colbert gets his way we will be sure to hear more about Swedish Fish, Swedener and any other silly things that pop into his head. On the other hand @Sweden could end up with tons of new Twitter followers.

Here is the official plea video from Stephen Colbert:

Would you be willing to follow the @Sweden Twitter account if the country was smart enough to hand over control of the account to Stephen Colbert for one week? I would definitely follow “CJolbert Nation.”
