Ed Sheeran Gives Jay-Z Sneak Peek Of Upcoming Song: ‘He Made Me Play It Four Times And Called Me An Alien’

Ed Sheeran is music’s man of the moment. It is impossible to go anywhere without hearing his songs or seeing his photo. And while most Ed Sheeran fans would say the “Thinking Out Loud” singer looks like a nice and pretty unassuming guy, according to Jay-Z, he’s actually an alien! Ed recently revealed the strange story in an interview with Billboard magazine.

Ed Sheeran, who has been working on the follow-up to his 2014 hit album, X, explained that he had let Jay-Z and his wife, Beyoncé, hear one of his new songs.

“[Jay] made me play it four times in a row and called me an alien. That was promising.”

Sheeran obviously has a great deal of emotion invested in his forthcoming album as he is a little concerned about how people will take to it.

“Normally I don’t care much about what people think of my music. If you love it, awesome; if you don’t, go and listen to something else. But this time is different. This project is a lot more dear to me. I’m nervous about how it’s going to be received.”

Sheeran also spoke to Billboard about his love life and how he values his privacy.

“I just never want to be public. It always, always backfires. I really wish I could disappear at moments that I’m with a significant other. It’s none of anyone’s f***ing business.”

It’s difficult to mention Ed Sheeran’s name without some reference to his close friend, Taylor Swift, whom he has never been romantically connected to. The pair have so much in common, so it’s only natural that they’re the best of friends.

“It’s quite a weird thing for the No. 1 and No. 2 biggest-selling artists in the world to be close friends. I don’t think that happens a lot.”

When Ed Sheeran isn’t busy setting the charts alight, he has a new interest – acting. As reported by the Daily Mail, the 24-year-old singer recently made an appearance on Australian soap opera Home and Away.

Sheeran played “Teddy,” a singer once looked after by Marilyn Chambers (played by Home and Away veteran actress Emily Symons) when she lived in Britain. Ed looked totally happy and relaxed in his new acting role as he strolled along the beach with Marilyn, who told him how well he had done in life.

The red-headed singer-songwriter took a few hours out to film the scenes while on the Australian leg of his tour last year, and it seems Ed thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

“It’s an Australian institution. It’s always on in my local chip shop. I got asked to do it and it sounded like it could be fun. I did Shortland Street in New Zealand as well and I’m sure if Emmerdale or EastEnders ever ask me in England I would do that as well.”

And of course, Ed Sheeran did what he does best during his appearance on the show, singing his smash hit “Thinking Out Loud” to the enthralled residents of Summer Bay. The fans who tuned in to see their idol totally loved his performance.

The singer also hosted the recent MTV EMAs, where he performed live as well as winning awards for Best World Stage and Best Live Act. It seems that there is nothing Ed Sheeran can’t do, and his fans are loving every minute! Perhaps acting is a new direction for the singer. He’s certainly conquered the charts, could his next stop be Hollywood?
