Is There A ‘Suicide Squad’ Love Triangle? Plus Check Out The Latest Pics Of Harley Quinn And The Joker

Suicide Squad is set to feature an interesting love triangle when the movie hits theaters in 2016. According to Tech Times, Deadshot (Will Smith) is eying Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) in the movie, who is trying her best to end her dysfunctional relationship with The Joker (Jared Leto).

“Harley is the biggest troublemaker, but Deadshot’s actually eyeballing her a little bit. There’s a pretty ragged romantic triangle there,” Smith revealed to the outlet.

Quinn has a long and tumultuous history of being with The Joker, both as his girlfriend and acting as his sidekick. However, things are set to change for Robbie in the upcoming film as she tries to end things with the iconic villain and move on to other bad guys.

With that in mind, this romantic triangle that develops between Deadshot, The Joker, and Quinn is set to be one of the main storylines in the movie. In fact, director David Ayer recently stated that Quinn’s goal in the movie is to finally become independent of The Joker once and for all.

“It’s about her breaking free of The Joker and becoming this fully actualized, independent person,” Ayer explained in the interview. “That really is a metaphor for everyone’s journey here.”

This love triangle is nothing new for the trio of villains. In fact, Quinn has attempted to cut ties with The Joker several times in the comic books, including in New 52, where Quinn actually developed heightened self-esteem as she tried her best to end things with The Joker. Additionally, Quinn also tried to split with The Joker during the Batman: Assault on Arkham animated movie.

That being said, it isn’t clear if Quinn is actually successful or not. Taking into account The Joker’s devious ways of manipulating people, Quinn will certainly have her hands full.

Meanwhile, fans were recently treated to another look at how Robbie’s Quinn and Smith’s Deadshot will appear in the Suicide Squad. Although previous images of the villains were not met with a lot of enthusiasm, the latest pics offer a much better view of the characters.

The images were recently posted on the official Twitter page for David Ayer. In the photo of Quinn, Robbie is seen in her full costume, complete with a gun, bat, and an evil smile.

“Crazy in the right way! #HarleyQuinn @MargotRobbie @empiremagazine @wbpictures #skwad,” Ayer wrote with the image.

Although some fans may be worried about what appears to be leather underwear that Robbie is wearing in the image, her look really does pay homage to her comic book version. Additionally, it appears as though Robbie has the right attitude to really pull off such a complicated character as Quinn, which bodes well for the film.

At the same time, Smith’s photo is just as exciting as Quinn’s. In fact, Smith was featured in his full getup, which includes his combat gear, weapon, and, of course, his cybernetic eye.

“The man who never misses #Deadshot @empiremagazine @wbpictures #skwad,” Ayer wrote alongside the image.

Although fans will have to wait until August of 2016 for Suicide Squad hits theaters, the recent images and the news that a love triangle is in the works should get a lot of people excited about the movie. Hopefully, more sneak peeks and photographs will be released in the coming months, especially considering all of the villains that are set to make appearances in the film.

Suicide Squad stars Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerange), Cara Delevingne (Enchantress), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flagg), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Killer Croc), Adam Beach (Slipknot), Viola Davis (Amanda Waller), Jay Hernandez (El Diablo), and Karen Fukuhara (Katana).
