Ariel Winter Fights Back At Body Shamers On Social Media

Ariel Winter is fed up with body shamers, especially those who pit starlets against other famous young women in the industry. If Winter can help it, she’s not going to allow people to slam her peers.

The Modern Family star didn’t like it when a social media user body shamed Ariana Grande for her petite figure. The anonymous commenter referred to Grande as a “stick” while stating that Winter’s “curves are sexy.”

“Got asked if I’d prefer @arielwinter1 or @ArianaGrande lol, it wud DEFINITELY be @arielwinter1 curves are sexy sticks aren’t.”

The “Focus” singer shared a photo of the user’s comment to address body shaming in the industry. Ari wrote, “We live in a day and age where people make it IMPOSSIBLE for women, men, anyone to embrace themselves exactly how they are.”

Ariel Winter caught eye of the powerhouse singer’s post and supported her in the fight against body shaming.

“Thank you @arianagrande for posting this Instagram. I especially believe in today’s world we need to stick together. I believe in EMPOWERING other women and not putting them down. I celebrate everyone for who they are because that is what makes them beautiful. You ARE beautiful.”

Ariel Winter is no stranger to body shaming critics. In an exclusive interview with Glamour magazine, she revealed that she underwent breast reduction surgery over the summer. The actress also admitted in the interview that she receives her own share of body shaming comments about her curves on a daily basis.

“The Internet bullies are awful. I could post a photo where I feel good, and 500 people will comment about how fat I am, and that I am disgusting. On [red carpets], I just said to myself, ‘You have to do your best to look confident and stand up tall, and make yourself look as good as you can in these photos,’ because everyone is going to see them.”

Winter told the magazine she thought she would receive criticism for going through with the surgery, but she received the opposite. She recalled that she received tweets and messages from her fans who were inspired by her story and felt more comfortable about talking to their friends and family about having breast reduction surgery.

Ariel explained the reason why she decided to go from a size F to a size D.

“I had a lot of back problems. I really couldn’t stand up straight for a long period of time. It started to hurt so bad that I couldn’t take the pain. My neck was hurting so bad and I actually had some problems with my spine.”

The child star also revealed that her high school sweetheart, Laurent Claude Gaudette, has been her rock throughout the whole process.

Ariel Winter made her first red carpet appearance, since having the surgery, at Teen Vogue’s 13th Annual “Young Hollywood” event earlier this month. Winter arrived at the event with her Modern Family co-stars Nolan Gould, Rico Rodriguez, and Sarah Hyland.

She also took to social media to show off her new figure. Ariel looked confident in the wedding photos she shared on her Instagram since having the breast reduction surgery, as well. In the photos, Ariel wore a sexy bandage dress with peep-toe pumps as she stood next to her singer and producer boyfriend.

It didn’t take long for the media to compare Ariel Winter to Kylie Jenner. Some were concerned that she was starting to look too much like the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star, but it just looks like Winter loves to dress up and wear makeup, just like any other normal 18-year-old girl. It looks like Winter won’t be able to avoid the scrutiny when it comes to her looks, her body, or her style.
