Bobbi Kristina Brown Update: Pat Houston Admits To Failing At An Intervention

Pat Houston recently opened up about her niece’s death and admitted that although she wanted desperately to remove Bobbi Kristina Brown from a devastating situation, it was simply too late.

People reports that Houston revealed in an exclusive interview with Entertainment Tonight (ET) that although she filed a restraining order in 2014 against Bobbi’s former boyfriend, Nick Gordon, she didn’t start an intervention plan in time, which could have potentially changed the outcome of her niece’s fate. Part of the problem, according to Houston, is that she didn’t realize how much trouble Bobbi Kristina was in until it was too late.

“When we really found out that Krissy was in trouble, we were really making plans to do something about it. But it came too late.”

Although there’s been recent allegations of Bobbi Kristina’s excessive drug use, the finality of the incident may have been due to physical and emotional abuse, according to a wrongful death civil lawsuit that accuses Gordon of constant physical and emotional abuse as well as stealing money from Bobbi Kristina’s bank account.

Houston indicated that the restraining order against Gordon, which came after he made alleged threats on social media, including posting photos of several guns, didn’t have the intended outcome she had hoped for. Houston’s wish was for Bobbi Kristina to “open her eyes” regarding Gordon’s reportedly abusive nature, but it had the opposite effect because the 22-year-old “didn’t understand it.”

CBS News reports that regardless of the animosity between Houston and Gordon, Bobbi Kristina still kept in touch with her aunt. Houston stated that the public had the idea that Bobbi Kristina “hated” her after the restraining order incident. Yet, Houston explained that although her niece didn’t agree with the restraining order, they still texted each other regularly.

“Where the world saw that she was angry and mad at me, she was texting me all along. I really tried to show her [that] I’m going to do this to let you know that you don’t have to be afraid of anything. I got you.'”

Regardless, Houston admitted that Bobbi Kristina’s attraction to Gordon was too strong, making it difficult to remove her from a toxic situation.

“External attraction can really cause problems.”

In the aftermath of the January 31 event that left Bobbi Kristina face-down and comatose in her own bathtub, Houston is still trying to cope with the incident and the loss of her niece. She continues to focus on healing and the love she wanted Bobbi Kristina to have for herself. When asked if she could tell Bobbi Kristina anything today, Houston replied as follows.

“You have to love yourself. You have to call on people and not allow someone to divide you and then conquer you.”

Meanwhile, Bobbi Kristina’s father, Bobby Brown, is handling grief by working on his upcoming memoir, My Prerogative. The R&B singer stated last month that although he signed on to write the memoir months before his daughter was found comatose, he’s now discovering that writing his story is helping him heal and deal with the loss of not only his daughter, but his ex-wife, the late Whitney Houston, who passed away in 2012.

When Pat Houston was questioned about Bobby Brown’s upcoming memoir, she indicated that she doesn’t judge him for it, and that people go through grief and healing in different ways.

“I don’t really judge when it comes to that, you know? It could be something that could be very healing for him. You really never know what a person is going through so if he feels that he wants to write, he’ll do it.”
